Surely something good happened to you today

^^it's a British dish. I was about 40 when I had my first one but since then it has become a cornerstone of my autumn cuisine. Cheap, nourishing and warming. Just what you need after a day out in freezing fog.

^Yes, I KNOW it's a British dish. I've just never had it before, until now, at least as far as I can remember.

I think that with the two "^", she was responding to Avro Arrow.

The only time I've ever seen Shepherd's Pie in person was in the cafeteria at my elementary school. The less I describe the way it looked the better.

I love shepherds pie, and the beef mince variant cottage pie, and Cumberland pie, which is like cottage pie, but topped with grated cheese.

Any fans here of the Lancashire Hotpot?

In France, the "Shepherd's Pie" is called "Hashi Parmentier", literally "Ground meat Parmentier" named after the man who popularized the potato in France. Initially, people didn't want to eat potatoes, because they grow in dirt, literally a potato in French is called an apple of dirt, which is not a very appetizing name. Parmentier is the one who convinced his compatriots to eat that vegetable.

I prefer a Cottage Pie to Shepherds Pie
Lamb is not my favourite
Lamb is becoming my favourite meat, but only in the last ten years or so. It’s a strong flavour which that I never really cared for before.

I’m cooking shepherds pie tonight. Can’t wait. Yom.

I got an early mark from my activity that I do a few days a week. As one of the supervisors was sick and the other wasn't feeling well either. Was able to go home around 9.30am this morning. Been home for a few hours now. Sadly my laptop had an issue and crashed - so I lost something I was working on. Shall have do that render again at some stage. Plus tomorrow is a public holiday for the Melbourne Cup that is happening tomorrow.

aw, that crash sucks. But it's gerat that you don't let it bring you down.:techman: Enjoy the holiday!

yes. We have something very similar in Bavarian cuisine. A very good way to deal with leftovers from Sunday roast.
After almost two weeks, my voice has returned!
Congratulations!
@Gary Mitchell thanks, yes I was indeed replying to Avro.

Part of it sucks because I had to pay double and that caused me to go completely broke, but my van now has license tabs and I can drive it again. And I can take al lof the metal bits I have strewn about to recycling. And I can sell my van. :D

Every site where I have an account wished me a happy birthday (yesterday), except this one. I thought for a while that I had made a mistake but turns out that I entered my date of birth correctly. Well, the good news is that I wasn't mistaken.:D
