At the beginning of the episode, Fox says he is there to essentially force a treaty port on the Eminians.
He did? When?

KIRK: Code seven-ten means under no circumstances are we to approach that planet. No circumstances what so ever.

FOX: You will disregard that signal, Captain.

KIRK: Mister Fox, it is their planet.

FOX: Captain, in the past twenty years, thousands of lives have been lost in this quadrant. Lives that could have been saved if the Federation had a treaty port here. We mean to have that port and I'm here to get it.

KIRK: By disregarding code seven-ten, you might well involve us in an interplanetary war.

FOX: I'm quite prepared to take that risk.

KIRK: You are. I'm thinking about this ship, my crew.

FOX: I have my orders, Captain, and now you have yours. You will proceed on course. Achieve orbit status and just leave the rest to me. You're well aware that my mission gives me the power of command. I now exercise it. You will proceed on course. That's a direct order.
(He leaves.)

and a bit later:

SPOCK: We know very little about them. Their civilisation is advanced. They've had space flight for several centuries, but they've never ventured beyond their own solar system. When first contacted more than fifty years ago, Eminiar Seven was at war with its nearest neighbour.

KIRK: Anything else?

SPOCK: The Earth expedition making the report failed to return from its mission. The USS Valiant. Listed as missing in space.

FOX: Kirk, what's this about you going down alone?

KIRK: Not alone. I'm taking some security people with me.

FOX: It is my prerogative.

KIRK: I can't risk beaming you down there until I know what kind of reception you're going to receive. Your safety is my responsibility. Those are my orders, sir. Mister Spock.

and still later:

UHURA: A channel is open, Mister Ambassador. You will be speaking to Anan Seven, head of the High Council of the Eminian Union.
FOX: Mister Anan, this is Robert Fox

[Council Room]

FOX [OC]: Special Ambassador for the United Federation of Planets.
ANAN: A great honour, Mister Ambassador.

[Bridge]

FOX: We have approached you openly

[Council Room]

FOX [OC]: With the intent of establishing formal and friendly relations between our peoples, but now,

[Bridge]

FOX: For some reason, you have attacked us, and apparently you're holding several special representatives of our Federation.

[Council Room]

ANAN: A mistake, Mister Ambassador. We are at war.

[Bridge]

ANAN [OC]: An error in our sensors indicated that your ship was about to attack us.

[Council Room]

ANAN: I'm giving orders that our attack be stopped.

[Bridge]

ANAN [OC]: Now, as to your representatives, you have my sacred word as an Eminian that they are alive and well.

FOX: Thank you. I thought perhaps it was all a mistake.

DEPAUL: Mister Scott, disruptor beams are no longer hitting us.

SCOTT: Maintain status, Mister DePaul.

ANAN [OC]: We are most anxious to establish relations with you, Mister Fox.

Fox doesn't appear to be using much force towards Anemiar VII in any of his exchanges.

Just because Fox says he "means to get it" - it doesn't necessarily imply the use of force to make them comply.

Let's see: he disregards a 'Code 710' which means he is violating the planets sovereignty over its own space and in the above dialogue...

However you claimed he stated he was there to FORCE them into a Treaty - which he never said; and further IF you read all the dialogue of his from the transcipt, he is clearly trying to negotiate, and is hardly being heavy handed UNTIL he's told he's going to be killed.

Yes, he did disregard teh Code 710 - but it's just because he wants his chance to try and actually negotiate something.

So it is okay for the Federation to violate someone’s territory if they want something?
Depends on the situation, but ignoring a code 710 hardly equates to forcing them to do anything. And even in the context of the story, Anon wasn't upset about that violation per se - as in his mind they did it for their protection. That said, once the ship was destroyed in the simulated attack, that's when things changed.

the Federation violates statutes (like its Prime Directive for example) all the time. Mostly for what their representatives (like Captain Kirk) consider good reasons, but again, that doesn't necessarily always lead to them forcing a soverign world to do anything.

Yeah, history is quite interesting, especially around China:
By the 1850s, many problems in this system were apparent (exacerbated by growing anti-Western sentiment in China). Although Great Britain had won a series of military conflicts, the fact remained that they had imposed an alien presence on an unwilling people, and a system of trade that was repellent to traditional Confucian morality and Chinese conceptions of world order. A second round of conflicts—the Arrow War or second Opium War (1856–1860)—between the Western powers and China resulted in the extraction of further concessions from the Chinese government, including the right for diplomatic representatives to reside in Beijing and for foreigners to travel in the Chinese interior.

I remember that. I really wish I had picked it up.
The idea was better than the execution (plus it was weirdly expensive). I’ve seen some other Dragon cutaway models that had better detail, the interior of Enterprise seems more like a collection of random tubes and boxes, seems like for $175 they could have included a little finer detail that allowed one to sort of recognize a sickbay complex or engine room for example. However, the warp engine is pretty cool.

Have they done any cutaways of the Discovery? I would be very curious to see how they handle the turbolift funhouse in relation to the other things in the ship.
It really is a cool idea, it just seems like it was thrown in there without a lot of thought about how it actually works in the ship.

There doesn't appear to be anybody in DISCOVERY's production crew that has any interest in that kind of thing.
Unlike Drexler and his ilk.
:(

All the booklets from the Eaglemoss Discovery ships only include previously done production drawings, along with a shot or two of the CGI models included.
Even they haven't put any extra time into adding exclusive newly created artwork.
