I still love A New Hope and try very hard to remember that it is a simplistic black and white fairy tale for children. Its fun for an afternoon movie where you can turn your brain off. ...
Just what the doctor ordered after the years of cynicism, corruption and moral ambiguity of the 1970s.

Even if one thinks she is Mary Sue shouldn't we wait for the final movie and see how her story ends before any final judgments. Jason

Good, it's been decided. Time to shut down the thread and move on as a species. Next topic, are we eating too much garlic, not enough, or enough?

Personally I could go for more because I hate vampires.
One question. Why Americans believe Italians put garlic EVERYWHERE? Once I read about a guy who lamented they put garlic in an "Italian" salad. A salad?
It's something akin the "Fettuccine Alfredo", which tourists believe it's like a well beloved dish in Italy and when they order it in a restaurant here they just receive confused looks?

It's probably based entirely on a stereotype that some racist guy came up with and it became accepted knowledge. Americans don't really like to learn.

I love garlic.

Still stereotyping Americans.

And I see it across multiple sites and locals. I'm skeptical that it's strictly an American problem.
If you mean, literally every single American then no. It's a generalization, I thought that was a given and mostly in jest. It was never meant to be a statement of pure fact. You don't have to fact check everything.

Edit: Never mind. I just missed the joke.

Humor is a difficult concept.

Well, considering that, after literally decades of globalization, internet and cooking shows, American people still come here asking for "Fettuccine Alfredo", "Spaghetti with meatballs" and "Hawaian Pizza" (MY GOD THE HORROR!) you are not far from truth.

On the other hand, I personally witnessed (and other people confirmed this) what incredible knowledge the Japaneses and the new generation of Chinese tourists have of Italian dishes. They often even know what wine to pair with a certain dish!

I mean, there are pizza shops in Tokyo accredited by the Italian AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana - Real Neapolitan Pizza Association) !

These people know how to show respect! :p

ETA: before you google for it, no, "Fettuccine Alfredo", "Spaghetti with meatballs" and "Hawaian Pizza" aren't Italian dishes even if Americans believe otherwise.

Hawaiian Pizza isn't even Hawaiian style from what I recall. Or at least the native I worked with said they don't eat that at all.

And I think that the Hawaiian Pizza is the conclusive evidence that Rey isn't a Mary Sue.

Because, you know, all the other arguments which affirm the contrary don't make any more sense.
