"Superman & Lois Lane" flying to The CW

They could resurrect Zod, bring in Zod from another dimension, have Zod have a son who wants revenge on Superman...lots of ways to have a Zod back.
Or Earth-1 Zod? I mean Ollie got that kryptonite from *somewhere* on his own Earth right? That means Krypton is gone in the E1 universe and if pieces made it to Earth, other things and/or persons could have too. ;)

I do hope that after COIE, the multiverse is left in tact, though I suppose they could merge things for one year and come back with Convergence or Infinite Crisis. Superman having occasional adventures in the multiverse can lead to some fun crossovers.

I loved the first season of Lois & Clark, so setting this up as a story about the two of them is something I like. Hopefully the writing has some wit to it.

No hope for a "Great Shades of Elvis," anywhere, I suppose. :(

The casting for both leads is great.

I am hoping it is more like Smallville were you do have action but the focus is on everday trials without the need of season spanning arcs from villians. Jason

It was inevitable really. Though given it's increasingly poor ratings does this mean the end for 'Supergirl'?

My one wish; give Tyler Hoechlin a decent razor; I don't like a stubble-faced Superman.
Supergirl will survive until the Netflix deal the CW has runs out most likely.
Hey at least we know now that they WON'T kill off Tyler Hoechlin's Superman in their version of CoIE

Ugh. Those Supergirl ratings...

I'm a season behind on the show. Moving a show like that to Sunday nights on the CW definitely has an impact, but damn!

^^
Taking away the CBS to CW move, that's pretty much a normal steady drop-off for any TV show.

Supergirl is in zero danger of being cancelled.

Don't let conspiracy theories and mad rantings that claim otherwise fool you.

I don't think anyone thinks Supergirl is getting canceled, even if the ratings absolutely warrant it. But the hope is the Superman writers do better.

To be fair, it's the same overall group of writers, so I honestly wouldn't expect much of a style change overall in how they present and execute their stories and characters.

Lois is (and always should be) lead. :p

Even the best, Reeve's first two Superman movies, in all but title, had more to do with Lois in some ways - if not co-lead with Superman (even if the first one had dealt with Supes as an awkward kid wither super-dee-duper powers). His mystery, her wanting to know more, and the adventure together sold it. Or that's how I remembered it, time for a rewatch as I know there were *shudder* plot gaffes. Especially in II (regardless of Lester or Donner edit, some scenes don't add up and to be fair Lester had put in a scene or two that were better. Including the more subdued Phantom Zone escape with Zod's hammy screamy line cut since Terence Stamp was underplaying everything beautifully in every other scene he's in, the revised opening credits, and, of course, Supes' big reveal. Heck, Lester's cut takes the facepalm of a lovemaking scene for after he loses his powers - given Supes' strength and being faster than a locomotive, Lois would be glad certain functions weren't as powerful... And the memory-wiping kiss at the end is still better than the original intent to reverse time and be stuck in a loop.)

And it's also not unlike Doctor Who from 56 years ago. The title was about the alien but the early episodes focused on how the humans had to interact, which was refreshingly different - and quite bold. The "alien from the other planet" was not a main character because who can relate to an alien? If everyone could, that'd be boring. That's what seems to be missing in a lot of shows; the alien is the one with the mystery and we humans need to relate to the human with the adventure; we are the companions. Not the alien to think we're just like.

No, each Arrowverse show has its own separate staff of writers, though there's been occasional overlap of top writers like Marc Guggenheim. But I suppose there is a general Berlanti/CW "house style" being followed.

No characters are declared 'off-limits' "because of a movie"; that policy died several years ago.
Except for the ones that are.
The key though is not quite following the pattern of the other shows. We don't need a Team Superman. Superman operates alone. Troupe and Lombard would be coworkers. So would Perry if they have him.
Since this is coming from the same group, I'm expecting at least a few of the standard elements we've gotten in the other shows.
I don't know if I would introduce Steel in Season 1. The real question is "do you do the Doomsday story?" It goes together with Steel, and could introduce Conner Kent. Of course, that's a tough story for CW.

The CW shows have introduced characters without using the story that introduced them.
If this show is about Clark and Lois together, then Superman wouldn't have a Team Superman--but Clark would have his friends and family. I would love it if Jonathan and Martha were alive. That's one thing Jon Byrne did post-Crisis that was for the better. I would guess that in this version, Superman is the disguise and Clark is who he is. So when he IS vulnerable, he turns to her for support. Based on the ideas above, that could mean Hamilton for science.
Even if we don't get a full on Arrow or The Flash style team around, we'll probably still get at least a one other character who helps out with the superheroics. They like ensembles and it's nice to get at least one or two other characters who can get involved in the superheroics.
Imagine COIE starting off with the Kents dead, and when it's done, Clark gets a reunion with his parents, who in the new Earth, never died. And he knows.
Have they said anything about the Kents on Supergirl?
What I'm curious about will be how old Jon Kent will be. He should be a few months old. I wonder if they will do some rapid aging thing.
I hope he's at least old enough that he can be a real character.

Lana would be interesting, and it would be nice to see a red head play the part again. Ma Kent, Maggie Sawyer (same actress) could also work.
I wouldn't mind seeing Lana.

Pretty much every action series has some kind of an overall season long arc and Big Bad these days, so I'm pretty sure this will too.

Except for the ones that are.

Please give me evidence-based examples of characters who are 'off-limits because of a movie' since we learned a few years ago that character rights access is determined on an individual case-by-case basis.

They're still not doing that.

And Comics have always been political.

Alienating half the country does not make for entertainment, and if comics were this political, no one would want to read them either.

All I'm saying is that it is far better to make a show that does not spew the writers' politics in a divisive world. They should just focus on Superman and his adventures with his family without the hate.

To be fair, it's the same overall group of writers, so I honestly wouldn't expect much of a style change overall in how they present and execute their stories and characters.

Honestly, I'm not sure. The encouraging sign is Geoff Johns is involved as are several of the Flash team, and if the tone of Flash is used, the show could be all right.

And the memory-wiping kiss at the end is still better than the original intent to reverse time and be stuck in a loop.)

In fairness, Donner would have redone the ending since he used it in the first movie.

Since this is coming from the same group, I'm expecting at least a few of the standard elements we've gotten in the other shows.

And that's fine--you don't want it so different that it's an entirely different show and can't fit in the Arrowverse. Personally, I would love some stories where Superman goes to other Earths and meets counterparts.

The CW shows have introduced characters without using the story that introduced them.

True, but I think in this case, it would be a wasted opportunity. They could do the Death of Superman in a five part finale and open the next season with his return. It would be much better on TV.

Have they said anything about the Kents on Supergirl?

Don't know, but I think it would be amazing if they do in COIE, and we get that historical change. Imagine such a scene.

I hope he's at least old enough that he can be a real character.

I would guess he will be and they will spew some ancient Kryptonian secret to explain it. Might even see it in COIE.

I actually think Supergirl will be canned but like, Arrow it will proably get a final goodbye season. Aging show with esclating cost with decreasing ratings don't last long. If the Crisis story is the Endgame of the Arrowverse then like with the MCU you likely build around some new shows with Batwoman,Flash and Black Lighting being the only old shows left. My other prediction with the success of Joker they will try to do a villian show. Maybe why they made Lena a baddie. You could have a show just about the Luthor family placed on a world without Superman. Jason

Deathstroke and The Suicide Squad.

Nowhere near half, sorry. A tiny number, no matter how many of them Twitter Outrage themselves half to death over Supergirl not being treated as Superman's inferior.

Myself, I hope this is nothing like Smallville. That was a waste of a TV series.
