Apparently they’ve decided they don’t have the time to work on Star Wars and their contract with Netflix.

Well it's not the fact that she is a female it's the fact that she failed as the leader of Lucasfilm. Even Campea called her out on it over a year ago

Doesn't she do proiper vetting?

I mean we had a different director and a release date for Episode 9.. but the director was fired and the release date delayed.
Solo was nearly completed in terms of photography before she decided to step in and see that there was a problem.

then there was Trank Boba Fett project

Then the Rogue One issues which got a new director for the third act/ pickups

ENOUGH! This isn’t another topic that you can turn into your own discussion. Go start your own fucking thread about how much you hate Kathleen Kennedy. Let’s see how well that will go over.

We are discussing Benioff and Weiss. Not your disdain of Kennedy.

What shocks me is the fact that it immediately is spun into an attack on Kennedy, when people were lamenting this hiring.

What hypocritical bullcrap. It cannot be both ways.

That's Disney's problem not any of ours. Why not tend to our own houses.?

but this all has to do with her. They ANNOUNCED these guys were doing films.. and now they are not.. go put the pieces together
They changed their minds. Tough toenails.

It's absurdity to immediately spin this into a hit piece.

Shit happens!
More accurately, money happened. From the article (that apparently few bothered to read):
Weiss and Benioff’s pact with Netflix came after an intense bidding war between the streamer, Amazon, and Disney. Little regarding the pair’s upcoming projects has been reported.
They followed the money. So, any referendum on Kennedy is on thin ice, at best.

I do question if the "not enough time" excuse is what really happened, or if the massive backlash after GOT ended caused all sides (both Lucasfilm and B+W) to decide that it would be best if they stuck with some original stories for now.

Conspiracy theorist kitik also questions the timing of this news.

This news only came after we heard about Feige working on a SW movie. And after TROS tickets went on sale to great acclaim, and after yet another sweet Mandalorian trailer. If the news about the B+W trilogy going bye-bye would have come before we heard about Feige, the fanbase would have been in meltdown mode, worried about Disney scrapping all future SW movies or something like that.

And speaking of timing, deadline broke this news at what? 11:35 pm eastern? That super-late-night news drop after sending SW fans to bed happy with a Mandalorian trailer does seem a little suspicious.

Possibly, but I would be surprised if Netflix drove a truckfull of money to them and they said yes.

yes reshoots are commonplace.. especially for big films.
But reshoots with a new director after 80 percent of principal photography is another matter altogether.
That there had been four projects in a row that have had these kind of huge projects.. now 5, that is ALL pointing to a failing at the leadership level
