Things that frustrate us all

grrr! I was planning to meet with 2 board members on Saturday and the night before I promptly fell ill.
I used to joke about Murphy-day and Murphy-month but it'd be more to the point to sum my situation up as a Murphy-life. If I'd publish my biography, people would propably claim it was fiction because so many impropable coincidences heap up. (silver lining: I've not been hitten by lightening twice [yet..])

Fucking mosquitoes just swarm over me every time I go out to work in the yard. I'll have on jeans and a long sleeved shirt, spray myself with so-called mosquito repellent and those fuckers will still get me. Not my husband or my neighbor---just me.

I feel the same about going out in the rain
Some people seem to walk in the rain and barely show signs of being wet
Me ?
I always look drenched and soaked to the skin.
Fuck you rain !

I like walking in the rain as long as there's no lightning. Unfortunately, I've actually gotten sick twice right after doing it.

I hate when they do this to me... really do very frustrating you know...?

^ingenious trick!! Admittedly evil but nevertheless awesome. Besides, it's propably never too early to learn how to live down disappointed expectations.

My boss is ecxellent mosquito bait, too. Very handy for me as I specialize in flies and mosquitos, heehee . Have you tried clove oil yet? It is a component in many desinfectants at dentists and a powerful repellent for most (but not all) mosquito species. We discovered that by pure coincidence when a friend who used to get stung a lot became a dentist and suddently got avoided by the little vampires. Later, we ran a private study to find out more about the phenomenon. With most midges/mosquitoes and ticks it works. Blackflies ignore it. Gadflies get a little repelled but not much. (Mind that the tests were made on European species only.)
If you try out clove oil, please be careful: it hurts badly when it gets in your eyes or nose and can cause considerable damage to the tissue. Some people react with a rash to it. Best dilute it with a little almond or olive oil before applying it on the outside of the forearms (there the skin is least sensitive) or on your clothes (it may cause stains on silk or artificial fibers. It usually leaves no damage to linnen and cotton).

Er, wait, does this mean you have been hit once??
(Also, hope you’re feeling better soon!)
yes, I'm ok again. Thank you :) No, I've only had one near-hit encounter: about 50 meters (roughly 170 ft) distance between the target and me. Rather uncomfortable experience nevertheless. It blows you off your feet, shocks you and gives you the grandmother of headaches and slight heart and breathing trouble for days until the nerves have recovered. And a tinnitus for life since it's hellishly loud. Had there been any close-to-the-surface ground water below me, I would have been killed.
If you imagine putting wet fingers into an electric socket during an eath quake while a bomb explodes in the neighbourhood, you get a pretty close impression.

Yikes! 50 m is way too close when it comes to lightning! Glad you're OK (well, except for the tinnitus...)

But no, I don't think that's something I really want an impression of! :)
