I liked the Short Trek, but as I said, it was odd. I don't see any logical reason for Una to behave as she did. At times, Spock looked downright uncomfortable around her.

Yeah, it was all a bit peculiar.

It was a whole lot of nothing, really.

As far as Spock's hair, it was short for 5 minutes at the end of DSC S2, and for all of 14 minutes in Q&A. No real need to cut Ethan's hair for those scenes. Plus Q&A was showing a younger Spock, so a different style was in order.

If we get a Pike series, that would be a different story. They'd probably cut his hair or give him more Nimoy like wig.

Found this on Youtube for all non-US/Canada viewers. It's the first 5 minutes of the episode.

It's so awesome to hear bits of Enterprising Young Men!! If they do a Pike series, Michael Giacchino is a must for the soundtrack :D

Also I love the Enterprise Turbolift Funhouse™. There's no way that fits anywhere inside:rommie:

Also, my headcanon is that Upjohn is Scotty's mum.

I enjoyed this Short Trek. Funny to see those two characters behave in such an uncharacterisitc manner.

Why don’t modern producers get Spock? Abraham’s didn’t get him and neither do the discovery writers, Spock singing? Feeling envy? Number one singing sorry cute but I don’t buy it. The problem with discovery and all the short Treks are that they are fluff there’s no weight to them
This is what, a year or so before The Cage? In The Cage, Spock was smiling at vibrating plants and screaming when THE WOMEN disappeared from the transporter room. If someone told me a year before that Spock was laughing while singing Modern Major General, I'd have no problem believing that.

Perhaps it was Spock's experiences with the Red Angel that got him to abandon this kind of overt emotionalism.

He was smiling pretty big in “Where No Man...”.

I tend to go with Dorothy Fontana’s explanation, he smiled and showed emotion in an attempt to fit in.

And how is anything presented in the episode antithetical to that? He was sharing an intimate moment with someone he was connecting with in private.

For 98% of theime in the episode, he was completely 'stoic.'

What's up with the new short treks in europe? When and where will they be released? Netflix or Amazon?

With the previous Shorts, Netflix Netherlands didn't get them untill the season 2 premiered. Or a week before or so maybe. I would asume the same will happen this time.

This is easily my favorite Short Trek.

My wife hated it.

On my end, I got the impression that it was all about Una dealing with the fact she's trying to tease the New MeatTM and encourage him to both come out of his shell a bit while also reminding him that he needs to also project how he wants to be. Basically, giving him the "fake it until you make it" speech. It backfires horribly because she gave this advice right before being trapped for what is apparently a day in an elevator where she literally goes crazy for a bit and ends up singing to pass the time.

She also refuses to tell Spock to shut up in his questions and undermine her own point.

last year's "season" of short treks began with what was arguably the weakest installment ("runaway"), i wonder if the same will hold true this year.

i liked this a lot, it's an auspicious beginning that continues to support the argument we need a USS enterprise spin-off (weird, it's always been the other way around). loved the kelvin timeline musical nods and i'm real curious how memory-alpha is going to turn itself into a pretzel to explain away all the visual discontinuities.
