As you get older what games do you keep returning to?

As you get older do you find yourself returning to play certain games more then other ones or even dumping newer games to just play with the older games that you like the most? For example here's a list of the games I have played the most and have returned to more then any others.

Tomb Raider 2013 118 hours
Rise Of The Tomb Raider 179 hours
Shadow Of The Tomb Raider 61 hours
Portal 11 hours
Portal 2 5 hours
Disassembly 3D 71 hours
Saints Row 2 100 hours
Saints Row 3 272 hours
Saints Row 4 178 hours

Those are the games I keep going back to and have never been bored with.

I think we all get video game nostalgia. Mine has to be Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. Granted, the graphics aren't a patch on what we get now (how could they be, it was released in 1998 for the N64), but it has a great story, challenging dungeons, and numerous little side quests. I still find new stuff out about this game even now, a gold skultula I didn't see before, a hidden room, a heart container. It's a pleasure to play.

I'm kind of amazed they haven't done a remaster or remake of Ocarina of Time.
For me it's the Ratchet & Clank, and Jak & Daxter games. Even after all these years, and all the other games I've played since, those are still two of my absolute favorite series.

They did, for the gamecube, and again for the DS IIRC. That said, I do think that Ocarina, Majoras Mask, and even Twilight Princess should be remastered again, or at the very least put out for the latest consoles so that a new generation may enjoy them.

my Runescape time is measured in weeks, not hours. I should probably feel bad about that.

Yeah, I wish they'd remaster them too for Switch. My sister hijacked my N64, and I own the 3DS version of Ocarina of Time, but, even with the 3DS XL, my hands are so big they cramp up if I play it anytime at all. So I would REALLY like a Switch remake of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, just so I could experience them. Also, I'd love for them to remaster Skyward Sword for Switch, as I skipped the Wii version because I really don't want to play a long game like Zelda flailing my arms around with motion controls :)

For me, it's mostly the Jedi Knight games, Mass Effect 1-3 and a couple of the Unreal series.

I pop in and out of Saints Row 4 on and off too.

Elder Scrolls: Morrowind & Oblivion
Age of Empires
Pokemon Red & Blue
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro (though I'm pretty happy with the re-makes)

  • Yar's Revenge
  • M.U.L.E.
  • Millipede
  • Og Builds A Wheel*
  • Choplifter

* okay, that one's not a real game but as I'm a crusting old nerd capable of self-deprecating humor...

20 cent arcade machines. We used to have several in a deli across the road from our old house way, way back in the 80s and they had a game called Phoenix which must have spent a lot of my time on. Loved that game.

68 is not old there is no age limit for games.

Good, because every once in a while I'll still fire up one of the old text adventure games, like Zork or something (before they added animation). Back in the day I was a huge fan of those Infocom games. I had a PC (one of the old 360 PCs that ran DOS) which had the game, and beside it I had a MacIntosh which had this weird thing called a mouse and you could draw lines and stuff! I would play the game on the PC while mapping out the different rooms in the game on the MAC.

The old days. LOL

Three reasons I still own a PS2:
SSX Tricky
SSX 3
Burnout 3

Honestly, I don't even want to know how many hours I've sunk into those since their release .

Doom (various editions)
Fallout 1 and 2
Diablo
Return to Castle Wolfenstein (and other WW2 shooters)

I've been getting a real craving lately to play Age of Empires and Microsoft Golf. Might have to fire up that up Win98 machine in the basement
