Disco Writer used the N word in the writers room.

Is there a chance, as matter of fact, a LARGE chance these 26 writers are <gulp> LIBERALS???
Who cares? Mosley wasn't reported to HR by a cabal of liberal or conservative or POC or white writers who turned on him as a group, he was reported by one person who felt uncomfortable with the n-word being used in a public setting in any context. Agree or disagree with either stance (I happen to disagree and think Mosley was justified to use the slur under these circumstance in relaying the story of police verbal abuse against himself, not that it's my place to give him permission), that doesn't make the complainant a villain, just someone with a different perspective. A perspective that WE DON'T KNOW for sure yet and shouldn't jump to angry conclusions about.

All of you that are leaping to conclusions about the motives or biases of the person who did the reporting are simply demonstrating your own biases, since we do not have facts in evidence to support any such conclusions, yet you're all trying to factionalize and fight over a whole lotta nothing info so far.

Guy's got a book coming out, of course he does publicity and then he talks about what he talks about. Not remarkable.

Kudos to Kurtzman and whoever for not alienating Chabon; it's their one known instance of competence in managing the writers since the beginning.

Please define "decent free society" in your own words

A world where social justice warriors aren't destroying the fabric of society with their misguided virtue signalling. A world where people of color are free to discuss being racially profiled without being reported to HR by a sneaky little turd who wants to tell a black man what he's FREE to talk about regarding his experiences with racism. People have their heads so far up their asses nowadays they can't see that people of color are being oppressed by the very people who claim to champion them.

What should have happened is whatever writer felt uncomfortable with Mosley's comments either first approached the showrunner (Paradise) or Kurtzman about it, instead of ratting him out directly to HR. Then they would attempt to have a more informal discussion. I am guessing that while he might have been a bit offended, Mosley wouldn't have up and quit if it was someone lower on the chain coming forward with an anonymous complaint, because what he was really offended about wasn't that someone ratted him out, so much as being told corporate policy by the CBS suits.

This does show the underlying dysfunction in the writers' room, which might have its origin in the termination of Berg and Harberts. The writers do not see themselves as a cadre who will work things out collectively, but as employees of CBS in a hierarchical relationship with the studio.

We do not know something like that did not happen.......we know nothing except for what he has published in the Times. Everyone should just stand by and wait for more info.........

Seriously...can you medicate or something? We do not know the full story and everything you type includes "SJW" or terms like "sneaky little turd".........it's all speculation.

I'm done. I've made my point. No need to for more censorship on top of what Mosley had to deal with.
What point? The rambling about your made up white liberal SJW with blue hair telling black people how to talk about their experiences with racism?
You are making a lot of assumptions about the person complaining and basically create a fictional story based on the real one to be able to get on a soap box. Your own bias is showing and it's not helping.

People of color are still being oppressed by white liberals and I have no qualms looking at a situation like the Moseley one and recognising it for what it more than likely is. If anyone in this thread actually believes another person of color reported Mosley to HR then they must be extremely blinkered about the world we live in at this moment in time.

I am glad you replied to me but as you keep doing you keep lumping in SJW into things when there is no reason or point to throw that rather derogatory term around. I don't see these fictional hordes of SJW people running around trying to reshape society everywhere they go. I just hate that term being thrown around especially when there's no facts to back that up.

Since you bowed out of the discussion thank you and bye.

He wasn't present or involved in anything but bringing the guy on..........why would HE be fired for anything? This was a HR matter. HR did their job. The guy QUIT. I feel that there is LOTS more to this story on both sides..........
I don't think he is to be blamed but as the guy in charge he still might have to go so CBS can show it takes this issue seriously. By the book following of corporate policy just isn't going to cut it if this story gets bigger which I think it will. On one hand they can't be cool with people using the n-word but they can't dismiss his feelings either. Firing Kurtzman for not controlling behind the scenes disfunction allows them to sort of be on both sides of argument. Of course like Locutis said we don't know for sure. We might all be eating crow in the end. Jason
