Trek-Ships made with Blender (wip) (usually non-canon)

She's an excellent design mate. I love her :) the hull and the name of the ship is where I got the reference to squid... look up Dosidicus gigas, she's one of my favorites ;)

Ok. After looking again and again at my own creation, and becoming less and less happy with it, I decidet to change some things. The saucer is now a bit thinner, overall but most important the edges, and a little smaller in diameter. To let the whole thing look lighter the neck had to become longer and thinner too. Also the nacelles and the struts had to go. The secondary hull got some new shapes too. Hope I will find some time tomorrow to add some more windows and the rest of the big glowy parts.

This ship, while having a conventional layout, has such an intriguing and peculiar design language - and I mean that in a good way, like in The Witches of Eastwick when Sukie says: "I don't mind when peculiar things happen. It's natural... because the world is a peculiar place." And Daryl replies: "And you're a very peculiar person." To which Sukie, taking the compliment, responds: "Thank you."
I love all the tiers & layers, and the indents & cut-outs such as the inner side of the nacelles, and the keel & spine of the secondary hull - plus, the odd, asymmetrical Bussard collectors. I envision your style as an intermediary somewhere between the Art Deco TOS Movie era designs, and the pre-TNG Galaxy-style ships like the New Orleans and Cheyenne classes. It's really quite striking.

@Cyfa
First of all thanks for stopping by and taking your time to write a comment.

Thats what I was aiming for at first. But I really felt like it restricted my artistical freedom on one hand but also reqires knowledge, time and effort to make it accurate. Things I don't have, or don't want to put my time into. At least not with this design. I already put more time into this then I thought....and I am burning to go on with something new.

I once watched a documentary about these animals. Scientist guy cought one of them and put a camera on its back. As it was diving down again it was immediately attacked by its conspecifics. He did it like three or four times...always with same result. That was so sad...after he doomed the second and just proceedet I really wanted to punch the guy.

One of the things I have noticed of late is that everyone puts a lot more effort into the saucer--as opposed to the secondary hull. The Discoprise is guilty of that--I must say, though I do love it.

You have gone the opposite route--and kept the saucer spare and classical--and made the secondary hull very busy--which I really like. Heck--I want a sec-hull so large there are shuttlebays and deflector dishes recessed into the sides of the damned thing--a Mon-Cal cruiser sec hull with China's fast dish in the nose.

The side view makes me want to see the nacelles raised--but that would ruin this view

I love this. Cyfa is right--it really keeps the eye moving.

I think the nacelle struts need work; they don't look to be from the same liquidy design paradigm as the rest of the ship.

But I must say that overall the Discovery, like the Excelsior or Refit to me has a more futuristic feeling then for example the Enterprise E. I think this is because of a certain simplicity to the design.

Yeah I know. But I wanted some parts to like slightly break the fluidity to make it somewhat more groundet if that makes any sense.

Little update on the Humboldt. Some details still missing (torpedo launchers, phaser strips, escape pods, shuttle bay and some other minor stuff) but almost done with this one. I think its time to start a new ship before I get too bored by this one.

You have outdone yourself sir. The side view is much better.

How far could you take your layering approach.

I'd love to see your take on the PLANET OF THE TITANS Enterprise.

Thank You. I'm glad that my attempt to fix some things seems to go into the right direction. Your feedback is much appreciated because I tend to never be happy with my designs and to fiddle around till i messed up.

For the "Titanprise": Thanks for showing interest, thats actually very motivating and complimenting...sooo..challenge accepted I guess. I already kind of have an idea what shes gonna look like. Let's just hope it works out. As soon as I am "finished" with, or gave up on the Ferengi ship I'm working on I will start.
