Post a Random Fact About Yourself

I have a math learning disability.
I do too. Unfortunately it got classified as “not applying myself” although I had straight As in every other subject. I was in advanced placement for everything, yet stuck in remedial math. But no—I just chose not to apply myself in one area.

Thanks a lot Catholic school.

That was me, also in Catholic high school. AP classes in English & History and won the class award for Spanish...but struggled in remedial Math. I definitely have some type of "Math Dyslexia." It's bizarre. I constantly switch numbers around and sometimes just go blank trying to work out even simple calculations.

My first exposure to Monty Python was a VHS tape of Holy Grail recorded from TV, with the first twenty minutes missing. My brothers and I watched it dozens of times. It wasn't until years later I got to see the complete film.

My math problem was what kept me from getting my degree in communications. One damn class. Of course, my overall health would have forced me to leave my job less than a decade later anyway, but I would have at least HAD that job if it wasn't for the damn math class I couldn't pass.

I dislike guns but ironically I am a very good shot. I found that out during my time in the army. I've never touched a gun since.

I have never owned, fired, or even touched an actual gun. Nor do I have any desire to do so.

I did once have this thing I got at the circus when I was 5 years old. It didn't actually shoot anything, but when you pulled the 'trigger' it made a kind of whining noise and sparks flew around inside it.

I was never that great at math. I got A's and B's in most everything else. I had a lot of trouble with algebra though. I wasn't particularly fond of geometry either but I squeaked by.
I was told to apply myself too.:angryrazz: Apply this!

I touched a downed power line in 1981 outside my house to see what would happen. Nothing did.

I also put my little finger inside one of those 1970s old-style large electric fans and got it extremely close to the large moving blades.

It was stupid in both cases, and I was 14 and 11 respectively. I can't believe I did either then. The only adults who actually would do that sort of thing are G. Gordon Liddy and Gary Busey.

Sadly, there are quite a few people who would do such things--- people who were missing fingers when they died prematurely.

I’m glad I’m not alone with the math issue.

Maybe the next generation will have more awareness around this problem. I think it can be as debilitating as any other learning disability. Especially for people who like science, like me.

Any ring that will fit my ring fingers will also fit my middle and index fingers and my thumbs. As in go over comfortably and stay. My thumb knuckles are weirdly small.

my neck hurts when i throw my head backwards really hard...
