Stasis tech (opposed to cryogenics) is playing with a small local space time event, which is probably primarily part of the ftl drive, right? But with their biology, since UV light makes then invulnerable, fed, not hungry and immortal, all you have to do is put them to sleep, and then dose them with yellow sunlight... Isn't that more more economical?
What happens if Lex exposes super poop to red krytonite? These are questions that desperately needs answering.
John Byrne said that there is no poo. They are 100 percent solar powered. Obviously that doesn't account for recreational consumption. Kryptonian stomach acid wouldn't become more corrosive, but it would take hundreds of tons of impacted feces to make headway against a shut super anus. I'm thinking of Superman III red kryptonite. The core poo splits into goody poo and baddy poo, who hate each other.
Were talking about comic book characters their is nothing about them that desperatly needs to be answered. But tons of weird stuff to consider seeing how fantastical the entire genre is. Stuff that plays into any nerds imagination. Jason
I have just a question: why did Kara choose to not reveal her identity to Lena? I mean, the first 6 months/12 months, I could have easily understand but afterwards? S3 et S4 showed how much they were close (great chemistry between Benoist and McGrath, besides at the point that their exchanges are natural) and Kara was always at Lena's side to take vehemently her defense when people openly showed their skepticism towards the youngest Luthor. I read that the main reason of Kara's silent was to protect her friend but come one, from what I already saw, Lena's character never was afraid to face the danger and defend herself. So what? Did Kara, even unconsciously doubted Lena's laudable intentions to differentiate herself from her Luthor's family and its way of doing things? Plus, the fact that Kara's revealed her true identity to her close entourage - even the last arrivals - except the woman she kept calling her best friend is quite disturbing, not to mention humiliating enough for Lena, who could end to believe that despite her good will and actions in the past years, she is still and will be always considered as a Luthor, so who cannot be trust. Besides, how did Kara ever think that Lena will never discover her true identity? I'm curious to see how and when both will end their feud to rebuild their friendship but I don't think that it will be the same relationship that they shared before, because let's be honest, such a betrayal is not easily forgotten/pardonable, especially when one of the parties did not hesitate to confess her fears/flaws to the other, who subsequently press one of her weak points. Well, let's just wait and see!
I don't think they've ever really dealt with it in the show, but I'm thinking the real world reason was that they wanted at least one character who didn't know, so they could have at least a little bit of the secret identity drama.
I think they addressed that once a while back, with Kara saying that she enjoyed having someone she could just be friends with as Kara without the Supergirl stuff getting in the way. I think she was just afraid of losing that easy, natural friendship, or having it change into something different.
It probably also didn't help when Lena started venting to Kara about how Supergirl was a total asshole that she only pretended to like.
Or how about when Lillian Luthor said something like, "I'm not going to tell my daughter who you are, becuase then she will feel even more betrayed, and probably destroy you."
So, it is virtually impossible to distinguish Kara from Supergirl? It seemed to me that even if they shared the same body, they showed in public a different personality (while Kara is a sunshine though a little awkward, Supergirl is more sure of herself and active) and even at some point, Kara/Supergirl's speeches were ambivalent. That Lilian/Lex disappoint Lena and uses Kara's secret as weapon, isn't unexpected and besides, she seems accustumed to that even if I think that they really love the daughter/sister but that Kara "plays" on Lena's insecurities in hiding her true identity while the rest of Luthor knew, can only be more painful for the youngest member of the family.
Zippy is not coming back for the Crisis? There was a whole thing years ago, where no one noticed that Lex Luthor's eye colour changed from blue to green in the comics, so we didn't understand that Earth 2 Luthor had Earth 1 Luthor chained up to the bottom of a well.
Jimmy is going to have to look for a new Girlfriend. And a new job. Jimmy and Kara are both going to be blacklisted in the media business world.
Even a superhero gets to be imperfect. And really, I'm more sympathetic to "I was afraid of losing my most rewarding friendship" as a motive for keeping a secret identity than "I hide the truth from my loved ones so they won't reveal it to my enemies under torture." That's often presented as altruistic, but that falls apart if you think it through, since the loved ones in superhero stories usually interact with the hero identity routinely (e.g. Lois and Jimmy with Superman), and still get targeted for abduction frequently anyway, so they could still get tortured but just wouldn't know anything. So it's only about the heroes protecting themselves even at their loved ones' expense, which is really selfish. At least Kara is honest with herself about her motives.
It's not that they would reveal the identity under torture that is the motivation--it is that if people knew who superheroes are, then those loved ones would be targets to any and all criminals. They would lose their own privacy, their private lives, and would have to have secret service level security, and probably still wouldn't be safe. That's a lot to force on people. The masks and secret identities allow heroes to have lives outside their work, as well as protect the people they do care about from being targets. Yes, some of their friends do get targeted, and that's only due to their association with the heroes. Imagine if criminals knew exactly who the heroes were in private life. Friends would be killed out of revenge. Family too.
Does he have any friends or mortal enemies left who's family members he hasn't at least *tried* to date? I mean, am I the only one noticing his pattern?
"Thats something my mother would do!" Everything from 2:40 onward speaks directly to why Kara kept lying to Lena. Lena only sees betrayal in another's actions, not her own.
Superboy, the clone of Lex and Clark, make, or will make Lena and Kara "family" one day. But if Jimmy had sequentially married Lucy, Kara, and Lena, they would have been actually family as well as sister wives. Alex is on a road to becoming Jimmy's sister-in-law.
Don't get me wrong. I didn't imply that all the responsibility laid with Kara. Lena is far to be a model of virtue or innocence but here, Kara didn't show her best, badly advised by her sister, Alex, who kept telling her to be silent. Here, in keeping Lena in the dark about Supergirl's identity (with the risk that one day, she learns the truth from someone else), they lost a dear friend and an ally. Was it worth?
