They passed by each other on the Promenade and recognized each other. Seska immediately looked away, fearing Garak might intentionally blow her cover out of spite. Garak smiled and continued on with his business. After that, Seska was hesitant about going to the Promenade and was later glad when the Obsidian Order altered her assignment to infiltrate the Maquis.

I did work for Playmates Interactive back in 1994–5 and I was in their offices in SoCal a number of times. One time there I saw pieces of a full-sized TOS Tricorder, which they obviously ended up not making in favor of the scaled down version they released.

When I was working on the DS9 Sega Genesis game for them there was briefly some discussion about putting a Sikso in his Saratoga uniform in the box with the game as an exclusive, but that idea was quickly dropped.

Although it wasn't in the box, Sisko in the TNG uniform was available as a mail away figure for people who bought Crossroads of Time.

Here's a blog post with some photos. Link.

Wow, even the original envelope it was mailed in! Talk about extreme completism.

It's funny, the 'Mail Away Sisko' actually is one of the hardest figures to find these days - far rarer than say Data from Redemption or Yar from Yesterday's Enterprise. You rarely see him pop up on eBay. I think it's because most people never knew the figure even existed and so didn't try and get him to complete their collection!

Slightly OT, but is anyone having difficulties registering on the Trektoy Forum? I want to post there about my Playmates Instagram account, but haven't been able to register there for several months: http://www.trektoy.com/forum/index.php?s=3f4c18ae18111a55123cbdf437af4573&showforum=8

There's no way to let their admin know that no-one can register as a new user so I'm at a bit of a loss. Obviously this forum wins hands down, but thought I'd ask just in case anyone knew what was up

Yeah it's a bit defunct that forum. Useful for reference but I've never been able to register either.

I think the person who is the admin doesn't monitor the site any more.

Yeah, that was wonky. Here's a site with a photo: http://www.mindlessshelfindulgence.com/rom-nog/
    And in the packaging: https://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Space-Action-Figure/dp/B000BKY1GS
I like how Nog is listed under Gear as a "mini action-figure," when "action figure" is usually supposed to mean that the figure is poseable. Since Nog was an "accessory," it makes sense that they wanted to use less plastic and not complicate things with moving parts. But still... :wtf:

Aron Eisenberg is only about six inches shorter than Max Grodenchik. Here are the actors at the Star Trek 50th Anniversary Las Vegas convention:

They did a little Alexander with Worf as well. It was something for nothing, a nice bonus. Playmates had pretty much wound down by the time Nog became an important character.

And then there were the Academy/Cadet figures, younger versions of TNG characters in uniforms that were never seen on the show. Those never appealed to me very much, since it wouldn't make sense for them to be having adventures together as cadets.

Those were total wastes of plastic. I think it was a dubious tie-in with Interplay's Starfleet Academy game.

The Riker figure is useful for a season one Riker custom!

I never even hear of those! I just looked them up on Google, weird. The initial line consisted of Picard, Riker, Geordi and Worf, with Data, Bevery Howard Crusher (as she's listed on the package) and Deanna Troi later released in the "united Star Trek" line (the action figure line from 1997-1998 which drew from all the shows).

I do find it amusing, on the package for the Starfleet Academy figure line they say about the Academy "Its graduates are expected to lead the Federation into the future militarily, politically and scientifically." The officially licensed action figures from the 1990s thought Starfleet was a military!

Also, I see that IDW's recent one-shot comic about Picard and Jack Crusher on the Stargazer based Beverly's appearance on the Cadet Beverly action figure.

Playmates also thought "Gul" was part of Gul Dukat's name. So the figure was labelled "Commander Gul Dukat." The figure also had two left feet.

I personally really liked them. But, I was also reading through the Starfleet Academy junior book series so it appealed more to me.

I intend to pick some up for more customizing now.

I completely forgot about those novels: https://memory-beta.fandom.com/wiki/Starfleet_Academy_(1990s_book_series)
I don't think I ever read those, since it made me feel more grown up to read the regular Trek novels instead.

The first three books about Worf written by Peter David featured characters which he would later include in the main cast of the New Frontier novels.

But equally scientific and political/diplomatic. Which is what Starfleet has always been!

He also looks nothing like Marc Alaimo, suggesting he was supposed to be a generic Cardassian solider.

Because they only really had the plot of Emissary to go on, the whole DS9 line has some amazing speculative stuff in the cardback character bios - especially in the second wave. They did some cheap headswaps of 'DS9 Tom Riker' years before he showed up in Defiant, and 'DS9 Picard', who is really an imposter from the mirror universe! It's mad stuff.

But militarily is listed first, then politically, and finally scientifically. Diplomatically is not mentioned.
