I'm curious about what episodes of the various series (or even movies) people would like to see followed up on in novels? Is there a particular episode that had an ambiguous or open ended ending that never got followed up on again...or even just checking in on a character or storyline that just seemed to disappear.

Now, just a caution...I'm not looking for story ideas for the specific follow up. I believe that's a moderator rule for this forum since authors post here. I'm just curious to see if there are any episodes/characters people would like to see followed up on in a novel in some fashion.

For instance for years I wanted to see a follow up to TNG: "Conspiracy" since it seemed they were keeping the door open there for a future story that never happened. Then we got it in the DS9 relaunches. Another was Audra's promise in TNG: "Devil's Due" that she would see Captain Picard again (and that happened in a later TNG novel, though I forget the book right now). Granted, over the years our authors have done just that, tied up some loose ends left over from the various series. But are there other loose threads out there that could use a bit of spiffing up, conclusion, or just follow ups?

There are certain things I like about novels. One is when they 'fix' up or mend continuity errors in the series, another is lost era stories (the literal Lost Era and Lost Year books, books that take place after the respective series ends, and movie era books that take place between TMP and TWOK and esp. after TFF). And another is follow ups to episodes that had a couple unanswered loose ends, or indications that they would be revisited but just never were. Of course it still has to be a great story. That's probably number 1 in any case.

Ensign Ro. Sure, there were the Terok Nor novels, but I'd like to read more about Ro's past. I'm interested in the time between Ro enterting the Maquis and her reentry into Starfleet....

Yeah, considering that, aside from an implied cameo in Rogue Saucer, her only litverse appearances during her time among the Maquis are incompatible with the modern stories (Wrath of the Prophets and the Dominion War two-part TNG story), I’d like to see that explored.

Hell, the Maquis were really left unexplored in general back in the day. Any kind of deeper exploration of what it was like for them during the course of DS9 would be nifty, and Ro would be a solid viewpoint character for it.

Anybody know if the Marvel Riker comic could work in the novelverse?
For a long time now I've wanted to know what became of Mirasta Yale from the TNG episode First Contact. The episode ends with her still on the Enterprise, but we never see her, or as far as I can remember, even get a reference to her, again.
I was really happy one of the TNG Relaunch books finally followed up on what happened to Barash, the alien kid who created the fake future in Future Imperfect, because that was another character whose fate I was curious about for a long time.

Given the references in it to Commander Kruge and the Genesis project, if Genesis Wave didn’t discount it, the Prey trilogy probably did shoot it down for sure.

Initially I believe she would have went to prison. But by now in where the litverse stands as far as TNG and DS9 go I'd imagine she would have had to have been released years ago.

Her name was Rebecca Sullivan and there is not additional information about her in Memory Beta so I assume no future novels mentioned her to any great extent, if at all.

I've brought this up before but I'd love to see more Stargazer novels, particularly during Jack Crusher's time on the ship. The previous novels all took place before Crusher came on board and "The Buried Age" was some time after he was killed. His friendship with Captain Picard was an important part of Picard's history but there is not a whole lot about their time together aboard the Stargazer outside a few flashbacks and some reminiscing by Picard and Dr. Crusher.

The Stargazer books unfortunately ended in Picard's first year as captain in 2333 and it's destroyed in 2355. That leaves at least 21 years worth of stories including those when Crusher was on board.

And with the new Picard show coming out soon it would even tie in to the upcoming show since it would give us good background on Picard's formative years as a captain. You know, just sayin ;)

And how about some pre-TWOK stories about the Reliant with Terrell and Chekov? The Seeker novels have covered some of Terrell's earlier career, and we have a bit of a timeline when Chekov became first officer from the New Earth novel series. It sounded like Chekov was aboard at least 3 or 4 years before TWOK, and probably at least 2 or 3 years before it was placed on detached duty to Dr Marcus.

The Star Trek Enterprise Vulcan arc and how the true works of Surak affected Vulcan society. How it changed T'Pol after all she experienced after those episodes.

I really like the DS9 episode "Playing God" so I've always wondered if Arjin was ever joined with a symbiont or not.

Also, Kira should have rescued Tom Riker in a story.

This last season of Discovery, in the episode "New Eden," Pike says to Jacob, "I hope we meet again, Jacob." He replies, "I know we will." I'd love to see this followed up on somehow! Don't know if they have plans for future Discovery episodes to tackle this, but maybe a return to New Eden in some future novel could continue this story.
