Short version: If you own TNG and the movies, there's nothing to see here.

But for anyone interested...

Best of Both Worlds, Chain of Command, Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis.

In my opinion, they really should have gone to a bit more effort and loaded the six discs up with a bunch of relevant episodes. But a repackaging is a way to make new money from old content, so it is what it is. :)

I guess this is a must have for a collector, which I'm not.
Something like 'The Inner Light', 'Lessons', 'Liaisons' and then 'Family' to wrap up the TBOBW story might have been a good idea, but buying few episodes here and there makes no sense to me.
(although that's the way I started in the 90s with VHS because of low budget)

Maybe boxes like these have (at least) two ways to earn the $$.

1. Collectors must have them.
2. Someone uses something like this to get into Trek, likes it and then later gets all the other episodes too.
But hey, if it gets people to enjoy Star Trek, go for it. :)

Yeah, this is just CBS trying to squeeze out some more money and probably a way to show the general public a nu-TNG show is coming out in case they are not aware. Let casual TNG fans know that a new show is coming out featuring Picard so they might tune in as well.

In my case, as I own TNG on Blu-Ray as well as the movies there's obviously no reason for me to buy this. But then I'm probably not the market for this for the reasons I noted above.

Who's the target audience for this? Who's going to buy this? All fans already own most of this stuff.

That 40-year-old who used to watch TNG and is now psyched because they found out about Picard. Their interest in Star Trek immediately beforehand was long-dormant. They never bothered with the DVDs in the Old Days because they were too expensive.

Weak set.

It's like the "collective" DVD sets from some years back. Some of us have chosen not to own entire series on home video because, frankly, a lot of the episodes never get revisited. So it's nice to have a small set of a few select episodes. But this set isn't that great of a selection IMO.

A novel double dip and semi-worthy sampler (the movies don't sell Picard at his absolute finest but are passable, though I doubt they'd been given a robust remastering since their previous releases), but from a provider that acts as if "Chain of Command" and "The Best of Both Worlds" weren't edited into omnibus movie form when they first came out on Blu-Ray with the "Idiocracy"-worthy verbiage of:

"reconfigured to play seamlessly like movies"

:guffaw:

You'd almost think CBS Home Entertainment had no dialogue with CBS All-Access :D

I'd lose Chain of Command, GEN and INS...I'd go Q Who, BoBW, I Borg, FC and NEM.

I'm borderline on Descent - works narratively but just don't find it dramatically and visually compelling. I Borg is great storytelling and acting and Q Who is a classic.

Seems...kinda crappy.

I don't think watching the terrible TNG movies would get me very hyped for the new series honestly.

Plus, Hugh is making an appearance in the new Picard series, so those episodes are good lead-ins.
