Taika Waititi to write and direct Thor 4

You don't understand. Natalie Portman *dissed the MCU*! Obviously there's no other explanation for that but that she's a terrible actress with delusions of grandeur. And of course couldn't possibly be anything other than totally desperate for work after making such a monstrous error of hubris! She dissed Feige, man! The holy Feige!

Or something...

Feige isn't holy

He's just a male

I know you all want to see the best, it's very endearing, but I'm just an honest person and I tell it exactly as I see it.

Portman thought she was too good for the MCU and it's fans, she figured she was a mega star in her prime and any movie she did would be huge

So she left, all the movies she was in failed to make any sort of decent money

Offers started to dry up, 40th birthday begun to approach

Taika gets brought back and told that we need to make thor 4 as socially progressive as possible

Female thor! Of course, Portman will be cheap and easy to ring back as she's desperate for work at the moment.

What they failed to realize though is that Jane Foster wasn't memorable or likable so banking on her is a bit of an iffy part in their plan.

Overall I think the movie will do well though as it'll have a lot of support from those in the social advocacy fanbase
There have already been several excellent counterarguments to this narrative in this thread and in the general Marvel discussion thread that you've chosen to ignore and not address. At this point, it's clear there's no longer any point in discussing this issue with you.

Yes yes, Portman is only back for artistic reasons in fact I'm sure she is donating her pay to help starving women in Africa #saintnat

Black Swan was TEN YEARS AGO

what have you done for me LATELY

ALSO that was well during the time the Oscar's were known to be snubbing minorities and people of colour so I can't take an Academy win circa a decade ago seriously.

That was the white era
She was nominated for a Best Actress award at the Oscars, SAG, Independent Spirit, Golden Globe, and British Film Academy Awards for her leading role in the 2016 Jackie Kennedy biopic Jackie.
I don't know why you are so, very, very, very desperate to convince us she's struggling, because she really, really isn't.

I know on Trek BBS there are certain groups of people who are absolutely beyond any form of criticism (Portman belongs to at least two of said groups) but at times one must be real.

I'm sorry the truth upsets people I really am, but living in fantasy land doesn't help anyone.
She’s not above criticism (no one is). It’s just that your particular set of criticisms is laughable.

She's a Harvard graduate, so I'd say she's probably not what most people would probably think as the usual Hollywood type.
Not saying she didn't earn her admission on smarts and character alone, but being a movie star probably helped with her Harvard application, so that's a tad bit of circular logic.

She's doing it because like most celebrities approaching middle age and irrelevance, anything to stay in the spotlight will do.

Portman is at that age where usually Hollywood don't have much for you these days, short of maybe playing Adam Saddlers new love interest in grown ups 5, a single mother cleaning up toddler sick is the usual role. It's a weird no man's land.

Sure they act like they want to go down the artsy route and return to their roots as an actress, but then the invitations to A-List shindigs, and the free designer clothes start to dry up a bit. And the cameras on the red carpet start to look past them at the new, hot young things.

It's a God send for her really, this as it will get her some attention for a bit longer and that's all these celebs really crave.

The virus is spreading. Somebody make an inoculation.

Oh yes, yes, Natalie Portman she's the real star not Chris Hemsworth the big, stiff, dosser
Such a shame spending so much of your time trying to tear down a successful person because... so jealous. Continue...

For the application, sure, but she still graduated.
Don't want to derail here, nor am I qualified to comment on the merits of Portman's academic output, but the number of students nationwide who are perfectly capable of graduating from Harvard with a B.A. in psychology far exceeds the number of students Harvard admits in the first place. Getting into the school might require brilliance, outstanding talent, fame and fortune, or some combination thereof, in order to beat out the other applicants; when one's place in a class is secured, however, successfully getting out does not.

You sure have a lot of opinions about Portman.

I don’t know why you insist on flogging this particular horse. But, ok.

Infern0 has this concept in her head that Natalie Portman only came back to the MCU to "oppress" actresses like Tessa Thompson.

It's sad, pathetic, and strange.

Wow. There’s some deep seeded issues surfacing from these posts.

I think we should move on before the mods descend

I’m curious how Thor 4 will fit since it’s before guardians of the galaxy 3.

Maybe Thor will have been on adventures with the Guardians prior to Thor 4. It will kind of suck because we want to see Thor interacting with the Guardians for 2 hours and we're likely not getting that
