Favourite Character

While I loved the big three equaly--I felt the most towards Daystrom
Nothing seemed to go right for him. He was bright, and seemed surrounded by fools.

I grok.

As a kid, my best self wanted to be Kirk. My introverted, bookworm self wanted to be Spock. Come adulthood, I ended up more like Chekov, without the accent. Favorite character: Kirk, hands down.

Welcome!

For regulars: I relate a lot to Scotty being engineer and all, but McCoy and Spock tie for me with their philosophical sparring.

For non-regulars: I'm going to say Dr Daystrom as well. Nobody else is as memorable, perhaps Gary Seven, Mr Atoz or Alexander.

The 4th guy of the big three, the rock on which the Action, Intellect and Emotion rested, Montgomery Scott.

Look up reliable in a Star Trek dictionary and Scotty's picture is there.

Also Welcome, welcome.

Uhura. I cannot get enough Uhura.

It drives me insane that she's the only TOSer they never did anything with in the Berman era. We see literally everyone else, even Janice Rand!

I seem to recall at some point seeing the most obnoxious quote from one of the producers (Berman?) about how they considered Uhura for the one of the TOS character slots but thought "Uhura, not very interesting." Yet another reason you don't want to overload on straight white men as your decision-makers -- as soon as she's not a young mini-skirted babe, she's lost all value.

Imagine how perfect it would have been if she got the slot in "Generations" that went to Scotty. She could have been the one ushering the El-Aurian refugees onto the ship. Imagine Nichelle Nichols and Whoopi Goldberg sharing the screen in that movie, even for a moment. It could have been so cool!

But none of those producers could see what was right in front of them.

She was very good in TOS, but by the time of Star Trek III if not sooner, she had become terribly haughty, putting on airs as if Uhura was suddenly an aristocrat from the most rarified social stratum, if not a reigning monarch. I think fan adoration at conventions had gone to her head by that point, and it messed up Uhura.

The job I might have given her would be in George Takei's "Sulu" episode of Star Trek: Voyager. I say this because Grace Lee Whitney's acting was rusty and wooden in that one, pretty bad, and Nichelle would not have been as bad.

Commodore Matt Decker as played by William Windom, Captain Ron Tracey, Morgan Woodward, Kang as Michael Ansara and Kor, John Colicos were top class characters and guest stars too! :D

McCoy and Spock of course!

It is difficult to pick just one of them - they are hilarious together!

Spock.

Nimoys just great in his performance as Spock as an outcast with his mannerisms. his subtle way of displaying emotions, his performance in Amok Time, Journey to Babel.
.
I'll confess that when I first watched Star Trek on re-runs I used to just tolerate Kirk with his womanising and computer killing. Watching Star Trek as an adult I realise that Shatner gives the whole thing such an energy and great charisma (even though I don't fancy Shatner myself).
