I'm a little confused about the new villain's motivations (life-saving heroes are bad because nobody should need to die???), but I guess that will become clear in time.

^That's a bit surprising. I'd assumed that Cisco giving up his superpowers was to set up his departure from the show.

I'm a little confused about the new villain's motivations (life-saving heroes are bad because nobody should need to die???), but I guess that will become clear in time.

We see his eyes turn pitch black so there is something clearly supernatural about him. This villain might be a bit like the Thinker. He has this seemingly noble goal (ending death) but the way he goes about it will be unethical. Perhaps the villain will aim to convert humans against their will into something immortal but not human anymore. He sees it as the right thing to do because he is giving them immortality (saving them from all the pain of disease, suffering and death) and does not care that he is taking away their free will. Obviously, our superheroes will want to stop him. The villain will hate our superheroes for trying to stop his plan that he thinks is the only way to truly set humanity free.

The villain may also object to our superheroes saving lives because he thinks he is the only one who should be allowed to save lives.

It was a decent trailer I guess. I think I've become conditioned to not believe anything until after the Winter Hiatus. At least that's what hurt the last two seasons.
