At a news site, I recently read that an experiment will be taking place very soon to try to prove the existence of a mirror universe. Do you think they will be able to prove it? Do you think there will be any danger in the experiment? If the scientists prove there is a mirror universe, do you think we will ever discover a means of traveling there, and if so, what do you think they will find? 404 page not found. Possibly the scientists will find a proof of a mirror universe, but I don't think in terms of peoples day to day lives it will mean anything.
Can we find an antimatter universe and establish trade with them? We will need antimatter for reactors and they will need matter for theirs. It sounds fair.

Very interesting. One question I would have is whether a successful experiment that discovers mirror particles necessarily implies a mirror universe. Or, are there other possible interpretations such as the discovery of new particles ( and possibly new physics) within our own universe.
In our reality, I think Steven is closer to the truth. We have not discovered why gravity exists, only that its effect is related to mass/matter. The article also gave: In the Star Trek universe, "mirror matter" and "dark matter" could exist in "subspace". I'd like to think that Star Trek subspace is another dimension or "the 5th dimension" which is gravity (and not a music group from the sixties). Maybe these scientists are on the verge of discovering a method to create artificial gravity without the mass requirement...but then again, it may be as elusive as accessing the "the 4th dimension" which is time (i.e. Space-Time Warp Drive and Time Travel).
I think they just call it mirror universe, when what they are actually saying is they are trying to discover whether particles can exist outside of our realm of knowledge. We already know that we can’t see dark matter. We could be discovering how to create dark matter.
Does that make "mirror universe" a metaphor then? That would be strange for physicists, but perhaps when they are trying to make it a story for the public, they like to do that. I feel like telling them that we already know the mirror universe exists. I peer into it and see it every morning when I'm brushing my teeth.
Kinda on that subject - there are a LOT of stars that we haven't been able to spot either. Teagarden's Star is a very small and faint red dwarf only 12.5 light years away and we haven't know about it until fairly recently. I have often suspected that both "Dark Energy" and "Dark Matter" simply do not exist. They were created specifically to balance equations that didn't work correctly without them - and that was all they were meant to be - placeholders until we figured out what was missing...
