Apparently Playmates made two releases of the communicator. Anyone know what the difference is, if any? Thanks.
The "Classic Star Trek Classic Communicator" had a few sound effects and LED lights that flashed. The "Star Trek Talk-Back Classic Communicator" let you record and play back a very brief message. And I think it may have had fewer sound effects than the first one. Kor
I only had the non-recording one myself... er, still have, actually. Based on this comparison video, they do look the same, most notably in the complete lack of holes in the grille: Kor
Yeah, almost no sounds effects on the Talk-Back one, which I still have, as well as my TOS tricorder.
Of the TOS variety, yeah. Plus, it was the one "field gear" prop that was under scaled. The phaser and the comm' were close in size to the studio props. Well, the comm' was a bit "fat bottomed" to house the battery compartment, but the width and length were otherwise pretty accurate.
One in a million communicators beamed you up to the Enterprise, and they took you back to the 23rd century to mine dilithium.
