DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

Dude, they are just movies (I said as much a few posts back). Why are certain MCU fans so pissed off/defensive over any member's critical opinion of parts of the franchise?

As much as I love the MCU Cap films, there's others--some self-identified MCU fans--who (for examples I've heard) think The First Avenger "sucked," was "boring" or "not worth revisiting" or that The Winter Soldier was "overrated" or "out of place" in the MCU. Pretty much tossing them over their shoulders, and I've debated that, yet in the end, that never stops my enjoyment of those movies. Same with Superman (1978); I've noticed a certain part of the superhero film fanbase do not think its any sort of a classic, while others tear the Donner film a new one at every turn, thinking its pretty much an awful film, but their very negative opinions of it did not derail my love for that film.
This is going to happen within any fan base, at least the ones that I have experienced. I see your passion on this part, but it seems to be taking a highly personal tone that isn't allowing for positive communication.

You seem to be making a case that it’s always someone else. Why are you taking people’s defensiveness so personally? Why do you take people’s criticisms of the DCEU so personally? What is your role in it?

You insist on pushing that, but the only people in a DC thread--of all places--taking anything personally, are those who cannot tolerate an opinion about the MCU that is not showing it with praises and/or sees value in the DCEU. That is obsession. You can continue to choose to ignore that in favor of focusing on one person, but again, this is a DC thread, and yet its filled with MCU defenders / DCEU haters with the inability to accept that the MCU is not the end-all of superhero films to everyone on earth. If they cannot accept that, then they will continue to live what must be a very troubled existence everytime someone posts their opinion on that franchise. That leads to pages of the BS which soiled this thread, and off-the-charts, despicable behavior like disrespecting the work (and the memory) of a dead man because a MCU fan hates DC movies and any critical praise they receive, and attacking anyone who happened to like another film's vision.

Perspective.

If torturing themselves is how they wish to spend their time, so be it, but it begs the question "why?" One would think some were Disney shareholders, the film's producers, et al., to be so aggressive in their defense of a franchise due to a few comments on a message board.

We are not talking about them, we are talking about you.

Glass houses, guy as you have your own, long history in The Walking Dead thread (generally downgrading the series / going on and on about declining ratings, etc.)--where you have become so heated with other members that the moderator stepped in. That says something about you and your motives, and its not exactly hearts and flowers--unless you're going to say that everything that happened was the fault of those Walking Dead fans in a Walking Dead thread...

Fake news.

isn't allowing for positive communication.

I've written quite a few positive posts about the DCEU round these parts in the past. Literally every single one got a response along the lines of "well, actually, I though it was shit!" from one or more of the usually same people as if I and everyone else here didn't get that the first five hundred times they mentioned it.

Not liking those movies is fine, saying one does not like these movies is fine, but some people here can't seem to let two post pass between people who do like these movies without interjecting and derailing the conversation into the exact same shitshow every few weeks.

There's like 50 other threads one can fairly peacefully discuss MCU without all this crap, it'd be nice to have just one DC one, but I've pretty much given up hope some of these people will ever grow up.

And that makes me sad. :weep:

Like I said before, it's not the fact that you don't like the MCU that sets people off, it's the incredibly insulting and condescending way you talk about it. If you just said you didn't like them and moved on it would be one thing, but every time someone even mentions the MCU you go off on some multiparagraph rant about how horrible they are and how stupid they are. That is what makes people want to defend them.
And maybe you honestly don't realize you are doing it, but you do the exact same thing whenever anyone says anything even slightly negative about the DCEU. So maybe you should just back off a bit on the people who defend the MCU, at least until you stop doing the exact same thing yourself.
Again, this is simply how percieve things, so it might not be exactly how you see things, but maybe it'll at least open your eyes a bit to how you're coming across in your posts.

^Denial does not erase your history in that thread which anyone can look up, including the moderator having to stop the conflict.
People have warned you to respond to posts, not posters but you seem incapable of doing that. I can tell people that everything I say in the Walking Dead forums is 100% factual, but that's irrelevant because we are not talking about me, we are talking about you.

And now we are talking about both of you.

Post not poster.

Sure.

Seriously, I'm not interested in who started it, I just want to move on.

In an attempt to do so, ComicBook.com has an interview with James Wan about "The Trench", hinting that it'll probably come to theatres before "Aquaman ".

I'm still not fully wrapping my head around "The Trench." Like... will there be characters FROM Aquaman in it? Or some other DC characters? Like... who is going to be the Protagonist?

The Trench is a ... fine idea... I guess, but... it could be any horror film, why do this one in the DCEU?

I guess I would rather them spend their money and time NOT on turning a place setting into a movie, but, rather one of their 100s of characters into a movie.

Well, it's not like they're just resting on all the other properties, they do have Joker, Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad, The Batman, Wonder Woman, Black Adam, and the SHAZAM! and Aquaman sequels coming up, have The Flash, Lobo, Green Lantern Corps, Blue Beetle, Supergirl, New Gods, and a bunch of others in active development, plus all those TV shows. So, they want an Aquaman-related horror movie instead of a random horror movie?! Why not?
