I'm still take donations!! For.. er..em..(I will think of the project name tomorrow) . The important thing is I'm taking donations today (car payment is due tomorrow.. oh crap, did I say that out loud?) .

Please visit startrekfanneedsmoneyforsomebullshitproject.com for details!! ;)

I wonder if I could get away with starting a crowdfunding campaign that promises to do nothing and is honest about that:

"Give me money and I won't make a bad film, I won't draw shitty art, I won't dole out half-ass patches and I'll keep my mouth shut and not run down any one or anything! Honest! Gimme money!"

It could work. It might go viral.

I'm not assuming that at all. I'm saying that if you actively curtail projects by externally imposing unnecessary restrictions, then you expect to reap the benefits of people who had to struggle on in spite of your active opposition, that doesn't exactly seem fair. Not that anyone here has any authority to impose those restrictions to begin with. Only CBS/Paramount does.
Utter nonsense assumptive strawman arguments. :guffaw:

Not really...
Actually I'd be a lot "harsher" than CBS with zero social funding but I'd allow for a donate button if you liked what you saw and want to help to make more. Problem is that I'm not CBS, don't even own a lot of their stock so it's not up to me and never will be.
And you implied a similar sentiment:
Provided said group of Trekkers get along wanting to go a step further by doing a fan film then they should buy their own individual uniforms from the same source or buy bolts of fabric and learn to sew.
Emphasis mine. That doesn't sound like someone who's simply chosen not to donate to a Kickstarter. Quotes like these were the original context, and to state that my response to this was impling that I think people are obligated to donate is the real strawman.

This sounds like the perfect time to announce my new project Star Trek: Postlude to Axanar, starring a cardboard cutout of Alec Peters--easily the most talented and personable version of Alec in existence! Instead of a traditional "movie" that's shot on "film" or "digitally", it'll be a puppet show shot on Fruit By The Foot. All I need is $1.5 million.
