Ambassador Class WIP

It's been a long time, I have had many real life issues, I had to find a new apartment, and I had a catastrophic data loss last December. So I'm building new models and I'm going to be rebuilding old models from images I have up online. This is a new model for me, it's my first attempt at the Ambassador Class, Still have much detailing to do, but this is my progress so far!

Hope you enjoy it

Sorry to hear about your RL troubles :( Model's looking good though, I love the Ambassador in all her chunkyness :D

The impulse engine looks a little off IIRC, and the nacelles wider apart, but the latter I think is an improvement as it gets the bussards out of the way of the saucer :)

Yes I really wanted to make them out of the way, and this is intended to be a bit of an upgrade, there was a book series years ago I believe called "New Voyages" and they had an aging ambassador class starship as the main ship, so I took a little liberties and also added some features from the upgraded startrek online refit version, the buzzard collectors specifically!

I have always loved this version on the Ambassador-Class, looks far more substantial and robust that the observation lounge wall one.

She's a beauty, very neat modelling, and I'm glad you've incorporated some Yamaguchi style alterations to it: In my opinion the lowering of the nacelles on the Yamaguchi makes the whole ship look very purposeful, whereas the Enterprise-C variant looked a bit ungainly. What a difference such a small change can make!

There are better shots, and more info on the Yamaguchi variant here:

Some more updates, lowered the nacelles more, added the lower deck under the shuttlebay, fixed the neck making it thinner at the front (Still not as thin as I want it, but it's hard geometry for sketchup to handle) also raised the pylon deck.. see the comparison image.

Nailed it! Do you have any plans for texture maps?
I wish I was that good at texturing, I mean it's ready now to get textures, but I am not good at all at texturing or making my own textures, I usually paint the models in sketchup, but this one should have the texture treatment. Unfortunately it most likely won't

@BK613 yeah, had some serious personal stuff go down, needless to say on top of the data loss last december, I lost my whole life in the 'divorce'
