From Rolling Stone:

Season Three of Jessica Jones will center around a confrontation between Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) and a highly intelligent psychopath. In order to defeat him, Jones must reunite and repair her relationship with her friend and foster-sister Tirsh (Rachael Taylor), but “a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.”

I wonder if they're trying to play up the sociopathic male antagonist angle to capture some of season one's glory.

New featurette focused on Krysten Ritter's directorial debut with a fair amount of season 3 footage that doesn't give anything away:

Did they go into this knowing they weren't getting another season?
Definitely looks good.

I'm not sure if they knew that the Grim Reaper of Licensing Fees and Plummeting Ratings was about to go on a killing spree, but showrunner Melissa Rosenberg did know that she was stepping down at the end of the season. That's usually a sign of definitive closure or at least open-ended closure like with Season 5 of Buffy and Supernatural.

EDIT: She announced her departure during the filming of Season 3 back in August 2018. Here's her exclusive quote to The Hollywood Reporter.

"All of my attention remains with the extraordinary cast, writers and production team of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, until the completion of season three. It continues to be a career highlight working with my partners at Marvel Television and Netflix. We’re extraordinarily grateful to the viewers who have supported us every step of the way on Jessica’s journey, which is so beautifully realized by Krysten Ritter and the amazing cast including Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville and Carrie-Anne Moss. We have so many talented storytellers in every area of this show, who I’m honored to call friends and collaborators. As I look ahead after this season, I’m thrilled that I will be able to explore new projects with the talented team at Warner Bros. Television and push myself in new challenging creative directions.”

Yeah, that's been my thinking as well. The show has been Rosenberg's baby from the beginning, so I figured even before Netflix canceled all of the Marvel shows that season 3 would have a degree of conclusiveness to it. Here's hoping I'm right.

I hope we can at least get some kind of closure on the bigger things, like . How much was left hanging on Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Punisher?

I thought season 2 was pretty meh, but that trailer got me excited for season 3. Looks much more interesting.

Tough to judge how a season will be structured just from that trailer, but yeah, I do have hopes that this will be far more satisfying than the second season. They obviously had planned on this being a bit of a conclusion anyway. Though if you watch that featurette on Krysten Ritter directing, you'll see that they were filming in the heat of summer, long before the first Netflix cancellation news came down.

The reviews on Rotten Tomatoes aren't so hot either.

Oh, well. At the end of the day, Season 1 of Jessica Jones and the majority of Daredevil were terrific and both ended with a sense of closure. The Defenders side of the MCU may not have been as consistently amazing as it should have been, but I'm more than happy that we got a great TV series and a great miniseries (Don't look at me like that. Jessica Jones: Season 1; not The Defenders.) out of it.

Meh, whatever. I've disagreed with the reviews for all of the Netflix seasons since Daredevil's second season (aside from Iron Fist's first season which we all agreed on). I'm sure I'll love this season, too.
