Unpopular Trek opinions game

It might be ridiculous if you reduce the whole episode to four grown people hopping around while chanting nursery rhymes.

Edit: Besides, I happen to like the hopscotch:nyah:

Unpopular opinion: The Kelvin films, like many action genre films since the late 1990s, are ruined by obtrusive CGI, insane editing, and unreal action scenes. They are simply not on the level of reality as films used to be. They are disposable, fun to watch in the theater, then best forgotten.

And with too much disaster porn too. Too much destruction, too many explosions.

TNG and Voyager are nice shows and TNG is iconic but:

It's absolutely crazy and unbelievable that TNG and Voyager has the most re-watched episodes on Netflix and DS9 is still the ugly step child-ignored.

DS9 is probably the most mature and groundbreaking of the series that took risks the others were too restricted to.

Without it, we'd probably still be visiting the planet of the hats in each episode.

You should seek immediate medical attention! :p

Unpopular opinion: Deep Space Nine was the worst of the pre-Discovery TV shows.

Okay, you're definitely going to raise eyebrows with that one. A bold, if jaw-dropping, assertion.

Not sure I can top that, but here goes: I thought "Faith of the Heart" worked great with the Enterprise credits. Who says we need a symphonic Jerry Goldsmith score for every new show. Enterprise should get points, not scorn, for trying something different.

It wasn't that it was a bad TV show, just certain elements didn't work for me. I was never a fan of Nana Visitor's acting, the switchover to Ezri Dax, the Vic Fountaine hologram and the war arc went on a bit too long.

Generally agree, although I might say it’s the “least good” pre DSC show. It had its moments, but I thought the Liquid vs Solid thing and the Pah Wraith thing we’re both unintentionally funny.

Completely agree.

TNG and VOY were more episodic, and therefor easier to casually rewatch. Later seasons of DS9 really have to be watched in a certain order to be fully enjoyed, you can't just randomly watch episodes.

I think Discovery is going to be the same after it's run.

"Worst" doesn't necessarily mean "bad". If you have a list of good things then the worst of them is still good.

Ok, here are a few of mine.

1. Into Darkness is a better Trek film than most fans give it credit for, even if the constant TWOK references overshadow the good stuff.

2. Enjoying TV sci-fi in general and Trek in particular requires you to forgive some really dumb plot contrivances from time to time.

3. Voyager didn’t really do it for me. It’s the only series with episodes I haven’t seen yet, and I don’t really feel like getting caught up.

In my opinion, this describes the majority of what passes for big blockbuster releases these days.

Blockbuster seems to have come to mean "successful big-budget movie that I don't like because I'm smarter."

New take: Some of the best Star Trek novels are ones that no longer (if ever) matched screen continuity, in really big ways. I miss the days where the books just filled everything in, like The Final Reflection.
