I probably would have preferred Hoult, since I'm more familiar with him, but so far WB's been knocking out of the park with their casting, so I trust them.

I wouldn't say "knocking out of the park". Some homeruns, for sure. But Eisenberg, Leto, half of the Suicide Squad, Amber "can't act at all" Heard and some of the Justice League (and I honestly think Amy Adams is a wet blanket, but nobody ever agrees with me on that haha) are strikeouts for me.

WB is about 50/50 as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I've always found her blandly agreeable at best. She's probably the least impressive Lois Lane in screen history, even given the existence of Kate Bosworth.

Since apparently you've seen the Reeves's The Batman and Pattinson's performance in it, I need to know a few things about the future..

Pattinson has always been shit, so having a 100% track record of being shit, its easy to know what his Batman will be. Reeves' also has a track record of mediocrity, and that mixed with him obviously not understanding Batman and basically just troll casting the character, and I can absolutely say that I'd rather have almost anyone, even Joel Schumacher back in the director's roll. At least Batman's actor wasn't the problem in his movies. Hell, even Snyder cast an ok Batman. Making a worse Batman movie then Snyder is the bad kind of impressive, although I suppose watching Batman sparkle while having a face permanently frozen into one expression is slightly less insulting to the character then having him murder dozens and dozens of people, most of them with guns.

Sure.

Have you even seen Pattinson in anything other than Twilight, if even that? By all accounts he's nailed all his other roles. Even Twilight can't be put at his feet given the source material. Neither the character nor the story was particularly deep or profound. The best cast in the world couldn't have made that stuff likable. I will give WB the benefit of the doubt on this until I have something to actually base an opinion on. Also, I remember similar outrage to yours when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman. I also remember people who were convinced that it would be an Adam West-style romp due to the casting. Would you have denied Chris Evans the chance to play Captain America simply because he was in a couple of bad Fantastic Four movies?

If you’ve only see Twilight, you’d think he’s awful. But he’s been in way more films than that, he’s good. He’ll be a great Batman. I’d say give him a chance to prove himself, but we know certain people think their first impression is fact and can’t imagine they could be wrong, which are constantly.

I didn't mind him in Harry Potter and in Twilight (seriously!) and he looks like he's done well for himself film wise. That said, this will probably end up being a film rental movie for me.

I would be so happy if we could stop the premature judgement.

No, this casting will not ruin Batman. It will be a movie and people will watch it or not watch it. Too bad, so sad, life goes on. They are not going to stop making Batman movies. Whatever the man supposedly "ruins" (I use that term highly loosely) this franchise will go on.

And now I can't take the rest seriously. Afleck was the worst choice for Batman since Clooney. I would rather have Kilmer than either, and I'll take Pattinson over either as well.

If the Batman franchise can survive Clooney as Batman that this new film will not ruin this character. Period.

I thought Affleck had (not entirely realized) potential based on his BvS performance. Sadly, his JL performance was utter crap and you could easily tell he'd checked out of the role already. In the end he wasn't much better than Kilmer, but I honestly think he could've been with a better script/director.

I'll never understand people who think "I saw that guy in one movie a decade ago" is a better standard for judgment than "A team of professionals determined through an extensive audition process that he was the most qualified candidate for the job." How arrogant does one have to be not to realize that skilled professionals in their field might have a better understanding of their own jobs than we do?

Affleck's BvS performance is my favourite of any of the Batman actors and it's a pity that Justice league undid all that good work. The Warehouse scene from BvS is one of the best scenes in Comic book film history IMO.

Pattison and his film has some work to do for me to beat that.

"From a team of skilled professionals in their field that might have a better understanding of their own jobs than we do, WB presents Halle Barry as Catwoman!"

People can like it or not like all they want. It's the declaration of ruination that is tiresome.

Despite my reservations about Pattinson when this was first announced, I'll admit, I'm gradually warming up to the idea. At the very least, I'm kind of glad they didn't go with Nicholas Hoult. I mean, I like Hoult, but I really can't picture him as Batman. At all. Pattinson at least is a blank slate since I haven't actually seen any of his movies (not even Twilight) so I have nothing to really judge him by besides the reputation he's gotten from Twilight, which many have already said is undeserved and he has a pretty good job in other movies. So while it's technically true I can't imagine Pattinson as Batman either, it's more accurate to say I can't imagine him as anything since the only thing I know about him is he used to be a vampire in a film series I've heard is awful.
