Maybe for the very last scene of the series. Nothing more.

Q, once again stripped of his powers, is forced to become Picard's roomie. "Queue" The Odd Couple theme.

I do want Q. Perhaps a tease at the end of the first season? I vaguely recall reading something along the lines of envisaging 3 seasons? If Delancie is up for it and they nail the writing, I think it could be fantastic.

They can't make it a series about Picard having some sort of existential life crisis, and not bring in the people who have had a major impact on his life. This includes Beverly Crusher, Will Riker, and yes, as much as you might hate it, Q. Of course, the crisis he's facing might be that the first two people are dead, perhaps as a result of his orders (the armada?). But the third one will always be there.

My guess is that season one will be it's own story, and if they have a second season that's when they'll get into callback mode.

Not really. Season 1 had Sarek, Amanda, the Mirror Universe, House of Kor, on-screen mentions of Christopher Pike, (Matt) Decker, and Robert April, and a reference to Constitution class vessels (strongly hinting at the appearance of the Enterprise).

They hit the ground running on not being stand-alone (disclaimer: I didn't mind -- I watch Star Trek for the in-universe references, because that's what makes it fun).

If that. Q is not needed or necessary.

Maybe in the very last scene, Q appears and shouts "NO! NO! This isn't right. Let's try it one more time....".

After he snaps his fingers, cut to....

I could do with less Q.

Please, please, no more Q. That is a character best experienced in small doses and TNG did not express moderation in his use.

Really? Q only appeared in 10 out of 178 episodes, and two of those were two-parters, so only eight stories total. Compare that to Voyager's use of the Borg or Doctor Who's use of the Daleks. If anything, TNG's use of Q was quite restrained in comparison.

By and large I found the character tiresome, so comparisons to other overuses of other characters in other shows does nothing to change my disinterest in seeing him again or that I would have preferred even fewer appearances on TNG. Nor any appearances at all on DS9 and VOY, for that matter.

Honestly, we haven't seen Q since 2001, so it's been nearly two decades since he last showed up onscreen. Hard to say he's been overused when he's been missing in action since the Bush Administration.

I'm certainly hoping to see him again. At his best, he often brings a welcome degree of snark to the 24th century.

Nah. Q was mostly a plot device to get heroes into trouble and to scowl when they got themselves out of it. By and large, TNG stories were not about Q. Voyager stories, slightly more so. I want a story about Picard, not a buddy comedy. I'd like to move on to new territory with a character.

Mind you, I'd love for Q to catalyze a Sheridan-esque ascension in the final shot of this series, but I won't hold my breath.

As long as he doesn't show up on Xahia. Po's "no snark" law might still be in effect. Hell, Po might still be alive for all we know about Xahians.
