It seems that the design of the costumes in the TV series was simple.

For example, Carol Marcus in beyond was wearing a blue dress. Compared to many clothes in today's movies, it was simple. No complex decoration. However, what attracts us are the character and story but not the suits. I like them all. What about you?

We all know that Carol (in "Into Darkness") was given scenes where it was more than her "character and story" that were meant to attract the audience to her. Not a good example.

Costumes and visuals are part of Star Trek's appeal, as is character and story of course. Most uniforms and costumes in Star Trek was carefully designed to serve the look and feel of the story. Simple styles do often look best.

I'm not sure what you are trying to start here. It may be overdoing it. Sometimes, a dress is just a dress, especially a blue dress.
