According to Deadline, the upcoming six-party Disney+ miniseries has found its director.

Even more exciting is the other bit of news that the article drops...

Hell to the yes on all of this. Seeing Agent Thirteen and Zemo again would be fantastic, and especially seeing Sam and Bucky working together as the former struggles to learn what it means to become Captain America.

(If mods would prefer this be folded into the existing Disney+ omnithread, I will understand, though it feels significant enough to me to warrant spinning out a specific thread on its own for the series).

We're also talking about the Marvel shows in the speculation thread, but this show is far enough into production that there's no reason why it shouldn't have a thread of its own.

Considering there are so many upcoming Disney+ shows (Marvel and otherwise), I think it makes sense to do separate threads, especially as more information comes out.

I hadn't expected to see Agent 13 and Zemo again, so that's a pleasant surprise. If Sharon does return, I wonder if they'll address the fact that Steve became her uncle, even if in another universe (if that's the theory line they go with). Might be an awkward conversation.

I'm so glad that they're doing these. Fans have been clamoring for the return of the One-Shot short films for years, but this is so much better. 6-10 episode miniseries following beloved MCU supporting characters as they deal with the emotional fallout of the films Agent Carter: Season 1-style? Fuck yeah!

When it comes to Steve, I just assume that
Steve "closed a loop". He was always Peggy's unnamed husband, because he was always going to go back in time and stay with her, which is why he was able to be on that bench at the end of the movie. I don't buy the "Steve saved a trip full of Pym particles to hop universes near the end of his life to give Sam the shield" thing that people try to use to justify him living in another universe.

Also, think about it this way: Sharon being Peggy's niece means she has no biological connection to Steve Rogers, so nothing they might have done was as bad as people seem to be joking about, especially since at most it seems like they might have just kissed. A woman unknowingly kissing her non-biological uncle is not nearly as bad as a pair of twins kissing a few times like in Star Wars.

I don't know, August 2020 seems a long way off.

Is this going to be the first Marvel show on Disney+? If so, that's a far longer wait than I was expecting.

Are we going to get 8 episodes of Mandalorian in November and December, and then NOTHING from Star Wars or Marvel all the way until August?

The definitive answer for now seems to be that this is still up in the air. The writers say one thing and the directors say another. It could go either way. They could make it work either way. Basically, if they need it to happen one way or the other for a future show (quite possibly this very show), then we'll finally get a definitive MCU-canon answer or explanation. But until then....

I don't know, for some reason I kind of enjoy not knowing for sure right now. I don't know why. Maybe I enjoy the mystery, maybe I enjoy just plain imagining all the endless possibilities in my head about a potential Marvel Multiverse. Or a glorious super-happy ending all along. Both are awesome, and I love that both are on the table.

That said, totally stoked to see Daniel Bruhl and Emily Van Camp return. I LOVE seeing Marvel stick with the stories and continuity of all their old characters. You know damn well we're going to see Abomination or Leader or Sif or Sam Rockwell or a bunch of other old characters pop up at some point in time eventually. (Maybe not every single one, but you know some of them are coming.)

Huge apologies for quoting myself, but when ARE they shooting this show? Maybe not until August or September or October this year or maybe even later?

Because it seems like they could very well be filming at the exact same time they're filming Black Widow. Which makes it seem to me like it could be super ultra convenient for certain actors to just pop over from the set of one to the other. (Even if they have to hop on a plane to do so.) Possibly even no need for a new costume fitting if the writers can explain them wearing the same outfit in both things.

I don't know, just seems like it could be really convenient with the filming and the actor availability and all that.

Oh, and also following on about other characters coming back, I'd love to see one episode where Anthony Mackie teams up with Don Cheadle.

Given how utterly ignored it's both been and will almost certainly stay, Agents of SHIELD is itself one big, very long, one-shot. So, you see, the One-Shots never went away at all... from a certain point of view. :rommie:

The only way Zemo works is not as in that Civil War version, but one with the personality of his Silver Age interpretation. Yes, the MCU Zemo is not from WWII with a history of fighting Captain America and Bucky, but that version shaped one of the key, defining dramas that made the Silver Age revived Cap so appealing. The MCU version was just single-purpose / revenge-motivated villain with nothing truly making him one the Marvel Rogues' Gallery.

Regarding the return of Sharon Carter--a welcome possibility, as she had much potential to be an agent like her comic book source, but she was unceremoniously dropped / never referred to again--until now. With Steve out of the picture, how she relates to his two best friends/surrogate brothers could be one of the interesting directions the series could take.

    In other words, a mess.

Or a George Lucas-style "it's up to the audience to decide" kind of thing.

Unless of course future releases force it to be one interpretation or another.

Like a year and 2 months man. Not so long.

Can't wait to see Zemo again although I hope he stays around for the Thunderbolts Movie that is rumored.

In a recent reddit AMAA, Kevin Feige confirmed that he did have a definitive answer to the differing views of the directors versus the screenwriters. Naturally, he declined to share the details of that view.

If you mean ignored by genre fans I think that, like the at-the-time unpopular spin-offs Deep Space Nine and Angel before it, SHIELD will eventually find its wider geek audience. The significantly retooled Seasons 4+ have been great-to-excellent. And we might only be a couple episodes into Season 6 so far, but it looks like (as with The X-Files: Season 8, Justice League Unlimited: Season 3, Twin Peaks: Season 3 and Doctor Who: Series 10) they've managed to somehow beat the post-script season curse.

If, on the other hand, you mean eternally ignored by Feige and the movie division then you're not wrong.

Yep, that. I guess the closest the movies have come to acknowledging AoS is Vision mentioning a recent dramatic increase in metahuman-type threats in Civil War? Though I suppose the ideal series to joke about being a one-shot would have been Inhumans. :p

Honestly, with the amount of conflicting info coming straight from (the usually somewhat disciplined) Marvel Studios, I'm starting to think this whole timeline discussion is going to be a major plot point somewhere down the road and Feige is deliberately muddying the waters and confusing everything to try and maintain the element of surprise for when it's actually explained.

I would imagine the big reveal is going to be less about time travel and more about the multiverse hinted at by the Spiderman Far From Home trailers.

Really happy to hear Emily Van Camp is back as Sharon Carter. She was awesome on Revenge, and I was a bit disappointed we didn't get more with her after Winter Soldier and Civil War. I did not expect to see Zemo again, it will be interesting to see what they do with him here.

Would be interesting if we find out at some point that the MCU movies we've watched and that we've thought were the 'main MCU-verse' were actually different multiverses. So we never actually did watch 'one universe' from Iron Man to Endgame. There were different ones mixed in.

It's a little weird how CW looked like it was setting her up with Steve
but Endgame made that completely irrelevant.

The living are not done with him yet.

That would be awful, let's hope they don't go there.
