It's either Orion's Hounds or Sight Unseen. Come to think of it, I vastly prefer the Titan novels by CLB and James Swallow over the ones by Martin & Mangels und Thorne. I haven't read Fortune of War yet, so I can't rate it yet.

For me the weakest books were Synthesis and Sword of Damocles.
Heh, those two are my favorites! Good mix of concepts, characters, and mood. I voted for Sword in the poll because I think it's underappreciated (and I see I'm the only person who did).

I haven't yet got beyond Fallen Gods.

I’d have to say “Fallen Gods” was probably the weakest. But “The Red King” was pretty forgettable (I read the book back in 2005 and I don’t recall anything whereas the other books I can still remember something).
I didn't bother with Fallen Gods, I couldn't make it more than a couple chapters into Seize the Fire, so I never even tried Fallen Gods.

I kind of wish I had gone with Sword of Damocles instead now. It and Orion's Hounds are pretty close for me, so I debated for a bit before I decided on Hounds. I loved Sword and was shocked to see how many people didn't like it.

Well, you can still change your vote ;)

Orion's Hounds is definitely my favorite. Although I enjoy most of the more politics-focused novels, more exploration-focused stories are my favorite. I feel that Orion's Hounds does the "new life, new civilizations" thing better than any of the other Titan novels (which have several other strong offerings in that vein). I love the way it expands on the cosmozoans from previous Trek episodes.

For me, it was a toss-up between Orion's Hounds and Under a Torrent Sea.
The rest of the pack came very close.

I voted for Torrent Sea, but Sword is definitely outstanding. Very much underappreciated. One of the things I really appreciated about Marco Palmieri's editorial leadership was how often he let authors take some real stylistic risks; the novel line has still been good, but less surprising and unique, since he left.

Man..... I can't choose. At the hard of what Titan was about, Orion's Hounds, Over A Torrent Sea and Synthesis are exactly at the core of it.
But, Poisoned Chalice and Sight Unseen were also very good reads. But probably a bit removed from what the idea of Titan as a series was about.

Yeah, Marco's time as editor was the Golden Age of modern Trek Lit. Things are still good, but not quite as good, let's call it the Silver Age.
