You are absolutely correct. There is no conspiracy.

But there sure is a conspiracy theory about how Disney has decided, because a film that made $1.3 billion globally, they will not allow the director of said film to produce his trilogy, because a few loud fans on YouTube have decided to shout their hate of said film and said director.

And before you bring it up, there are a lot of reasons why Solo failed. I'll admit that TLJ backlash is on the list, but it is by far not the highest nor the only reason on that list. If Disney and LFL were really concerned, we would not be getting Galaxy's Edge, The Mandalorian, the Cassian Andor series, the conclusion of The Clone Wars, more Resistance, and other things. Pretty much, Star Wars would be regulated to novels and comics again.

It's not about star wars being dead, or even less popular. It's just obvious that it does best at the box office when there is about a decade or so to build hype.

Galaxy’s Edge is based entirely on the sequel trilogy era. Sometime between TLJ and TROS, that’s after a lot of research into what fans wanted. If they were worried about fan reactions, they aren’t showing it. People seem to want to see Rey, Poe, Finn and Kylo in the parks.

Even without that, it tends to beat out Star Trek every time at the box office.

According to various rumors, Universal Studios is planning a Star Trek attraction and possibly an entire area at their third park in Orlando.

So, the Star Wars saga (aka the Skywalker Saga) has been generational. I’m not sure if I believe that this is truly the end of the saga (we’ve been here before), but now Star Wars is moving away from that model. They may return and perhaps seeing Rey, Finn and Poe again in a few years may hold the same feeling of nostalgia that we saw pre-TFA. But I’m not holding my breath on that happening. Star Wars is building a new path under Disney. Yes, absolutely, it has done well with the model of waiting a generation to start something new but I don’t think that’s what they’re doing any longer. For better or worse.

Star Trek the experience failed in Vegas... and that one was free to visit (did cost money to ride the motion simulator).

I liked the Star Trek Experience. Only went once for my 21st birthday though. Their Quark's Bar was pretty good as well. They also has semi-high tech slot machines right outside with laser/motion sensor activation instead of button or a level.

They had lots of fun stuff... I'd be a regular if it was still around. That casino is a sad dump now too...

It would be one part of a bigger park. So another Harry Potter land, a Nintendo land, some other things and Star Trek with a solid ride or two as the draw. Islands of Adventure still has attractions based on Popeye and Dudley Do Right, which haven’t been popular in half a century. Star Trek is also in a different place than it was over 20 years ago. It’s still widely recognized, has a successful series, several successful movies, and several upcoming shows one of which will be on Nickelodeon, which could bring in an entirely new fan base. Star Trek the Experience was sold to fanboys and that’s a limited market. This would be a theme park with thrill rides, some space themed dining and other cool shit to draw in anyone vaguely aware of Star Trek while still appealing to fans. If it were something on the level of the Harry Potter sections, this could something special. Especially since they want to compete with Galaxy’s Edge and Trek is the second most recognized sci-fi franchise and they’re holding onto Marvel by the skin of their teeth. There’s actually a guy from Disney who walks around the Marvel section of IoA to make sure it’s up to date and doesn’t make their property look bad by having chipped paint, because they could then end the contract and Disney really wants that contact to end.

I was just coming here to post that.

But hey, we all have our moments where we're wrong. No real judgment. Owning up to it is huge in my book. :)

About the news item itself, I'm kinda thrilled about that. In 2022, I'll have an almost four year old. Depending on the maturity level of the trilogy (and my son), I'm going to be able to share some new Star Wars with him! :)

Having this much speculative fiction films coming out is highly exciting to me.

I’m really looking forward to that. Fox Animation seems to have a Family Guy and another Simpsons movie in the works too. Simpsons could be good, the first movie was the best thing they did in years. I don’t really care about Family Guy though, American Dad maybe.

    That is confusing.
I mean, I'm glad, but I have zero interest in that show. But, hey, more power to the fans I guess.
