One of the great core narratives is fighting fucking ice zombies.... with dragons.
Why are you choosing to die on this hill for a book series you haven't even read?

That hasn't happened yet in the books to be honest. Might not ever happen for all we know

Dany's eyes while sitting at the table and Tormund calls Jon a king.

*scream internally* "Don't make me murder you."

I had very...mixed feelings about that.

The first act of the episode was almost entirely great, since it focused on the sort of of small-bore character work that the show - even in the later seasons - is good at. Seeing the Lannister boys, Pod, and Brienne doing the drinking game was great. Tormund was awesome as always. I thought Gendry's spur-of-the-moment proposal seemed weird, but he's not really played as the sharpest/smoothest guy, so it wasn't really out of character. Oathsex was just fine too. And Bronn got to be Bronn one last time (at least, probably the last time).

But then they got into the "plot" portion of the episode, and it began to unravel a bit. I mean, I don't really mind they're going "mad queen" with Dany - that's fine, and I think it's been foreshadowed well enough to date it doesn't seem like it comes out of nowhere. But I hate how they decided to make both Jon and Tyrion take the idiot ball and defend her relentlessly. Jon is at least understandable, because he's dumb and in love (even though the two actors have no chemistry together and I can't actually imagine any passion between them. But Tyrion being among her last stalwarts is just bad writing. Basically someone needed to be the Yin to Varys' Yang, so they picked him.

This episode went basically the way I expected sans another dead dragon. Where did those huge bolts come from?

And why do all the bad guys instinctively know to aim for the dragons not carrying Dany first?

I'm so goddamn tired of Euron Greyjoy and his fucking magical stealth fleet.

It's like the writers are just trying to remove by fiat anything to keep Daeny's forces from being the underdogs. Shitty twist in an otherwise really good episode.

Why wasn’t Dany scouting out the place properly seeing she had already faced one of Qyburn’s weapon. She should have been flying much higher around Dragonstone and considering there might be an ambush.

    Poor Grey Worm.

Sansa not really good at keep her promise.

Disappointed we didn't see Sansa and Arya's reactions after hearing the truth about Jon.

Is Jaime going to join Cersie or kill her?

Why is seeing a dragon die more hurtful than death of human characters (e.g. Missandei)?

I was really worried about Tyrion at the end.

    Loved the Sansa Hound reunion.

I was surprised greyworm survived the previous episode. He was needed to go through some suffering in this one.

After revealing Gendry's heritage and making him a lord I thought Dany was going to do the same with Jon.

I was wondering how Dany found out about Gendry but then Davos gave an accusing look to Jon.

I did enjoy the first half the episode, when we had character moments, much more than the more dramatic second half.

    MIssandei. :(

As soon as I saw her standing in front of that edge, I knew she was going to die (although I thought Euron would dropkick her on his own decision and not the Mountain behead her on Cersei's command).

    And Rhaegel, too. :(

Honestly, I'm surprised and disappointed that no one thought about the possibility of Euron's fleet lying in wait at Dragonstone. Surely at least Davos would've suggested scouting ahead. They had a good plan...except for the lacking scouting ahead. It seems like no one in Westeros ever scouts ahead.

I initially didn't like how we didn't get to see Arya and Sansa discovering the truth of Jon/Aegon's heritage, but by the time Tyrion and Varys were quietly scheming below decks of Daenerys' flagship (that takes some balls...at least one set, anyways), I liked how the secret spread. I highly suspect Varys put the pieces together during the feast at Winterfell, based on his observations of Daenerys and Jon/Aegon's interactions or lack of interactions. I imagine it went something along the lines of "He's not talking to her, she's mad at him, jealous of the admiration he gets. She would only feel threaten by such fealty if there was legitimacy to him trying to make a claim, a claim he doesn't want to make. The only way that could happen is if...only if the timing works out...it does...ahhhh..."

I was so happy that Jaime and Brienne finally consummated their relationship (thus ending the ludicrous possibility of her and Tormund coming together)...but I was just disappointed and heartbroken when Jaime decided to head north to Cersei. I still clung onto hope that he would say something along the lines of "I'm not riding to save her, I'm riding to end her," but his speech about all things he has done for love has seemingly quashed that hope. Maybe something in the end will lead him to become Queenslayer...something...

With Cersei rewarding Euron's victory over Daenerys by telling him she bears his child, I feel certain more than every before hat she's been playing "I'm pregnant, now show me fealty!" game this whole time. She's playing the short-term game, knowing before that she was losing Jaime's trust and loyalty and tried to use this news to hold him, just as she's trying use it hold and control Euron, until she doesn't need him anymore. Perhaps this will be the something that will finally push Jaime over...

I'm not surprised at all Arya spurred poor Gendry's offer of marriage after he became unofficially legitimized. She was never a lady and she never was going to be. Nice to see her riding south with The Hound again, both of them with unfinished business. It was also nice to see The Hound and Sansa briefly reconnect, recalling the early days of the show.

The way they did Jon's farewell from Winterfell screams of telegraphing his impending death, as if they'll never see him again. Poor Ghost, he gets sent to the true North and he doesn't even get a proper goodbye from Jon. That CGI budget must really suck.

Sam and Gilly are expecting! Apparently the Citadel didn't have that many books.

So weird that they don't announce this season's titles ahead of time, or even as they air (and show up on HBO Now). They're not that spoiler-y.

Apparently David and Dan don't care if millions upon millions of people hate them and start sending them death threats because they've tripled down on a storyline that is only going to piss people off, and I now feel foolish for believing that they understood their audience and actually cared to avoid the damage to their own personal reputations.

It's clear now, though, that they don't and are hellbent on deliberately antagonizing their audience, and it causes me to lose what respect I had for them as storytellers.

There is absolutely no reason for there to be a simmering and stewing conflict brewing between Danaerys and Jon other than petty melodrama, and yet that's where we are and are clearly going to stay despite all common sense saying that this storyline shouldn't exist.

I was greatly let down by the final episode of Westworld Season 2, and now Game of Thrones is heading in that same direction and it honestly robs the series of its 'enjoyment factor'.

I liked Missandei’s choice of last words “Dracaris”. Basically saying “Kill them all”.

I think they just didn’t think Yuron had a weapon capable of killing a dragon.

I disagree. Dany having to become her father to become queen is what’s been heralded since episode 1.

Yup, same here. Looks like Daenerys is going to take her final words to heart.

Why not? Daenerys and Tyrion saw that Cersei's forces did firsthand last season.

Hell, in the end of season 2 when she was under hallucination of the house of the undying showed her in a destroyed throne room with snow coming in.

This is specifically what has been foreshadowed for the entire run of the show!!
