This thread will chronical my restoration of a 1976 Dinky USS Enterprise.
I got my hands on a toy I had had as a kid, & lost in a move.
As you can see the plastic top of the saucer has yellowed with age, the paint is worn, the decals are a mess, & the pylons are twisted.
I plan on repainting the ship (including the plastic part of the saucer, and have ordered new decals.
Now I'm debating... Do I restore the toy?
Or do I customize it, to match the original color scheme?

I say customize her, as restoration would be weird to do, as that would be a custom as well...so go for gold.

Buy another one. Restore one and mod the other.
Agreed (if possible)

I'd like to see that fleshed out as a drawing. It is a bit like the pressure hull drawing by the turbolift actually.

One last thing.

So help me, but I remember there was an ad for a refit version of this with the "square" nacelles

Ah Here it is!

Not quite as I remember...

I'm surprised no one tried this, say--with foam parts

I ended up doing that with a Space 1999 Eagle, since i ended up with spares buying half-complete ones in my restoration effort.
