this happened despite midnight’s edge’s proclamations that the show is being shunned by merchandisers and undergoing costly BTS changes?

i am shocked.

I hope they don't use the TOS font in marketing or in the series. I don't think it sets the right tone.

“Everybody in that room loves Jean-Luc Picard very deeply, and obviously, the benefit that we have is that Jean-Luc Picard is in the room with us,” Kurtzman said. “And so, as we're breaking story, we're asking ourselves, ‘How do we live to the spirit, and to the character, and for the tone that Next Gen set, but also make it something very, very different in other ways?’

And Patrick was really clear with us from the beginning. He did not want to repeat what he had already done.
And by the way, it's been 20 plus years, so he couldn't possibly be that same person anymore.

“And so, the question becomes, ‘What has happened to him in that period of time? Have there been occurrences that forced him to reckon with choices that he's made in his life? How do you hold on to being the person everybody loved when the circumstances around you may have changed so radically?’ And those are the big questions that we're asking.”

I hope so too - I wonder if they'll go back to a more TNG movie style/Enterprise - or just something a bit more sleek (can't imagine they'll use TNG logo or variation of).

I'm actually curious to see what music they have for the opening credit - will they use a new theme or a theme with the classic orchestral TNG theme worked in (sort of like what they did with Discovery and the Enterprise sequences).

As much as they are talking about picard wanting to be its own thing I don't see them using any TNG music.

Could be great, could be a trainwreck. Only a few months to go.

The show has like a half-dozen executive producers, but has their been any announcement which one is the showrunner yet?

Not having one central person in control seems ominous to me.

I hope there's someone on this new show that keeps talking in one long... incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one has a chance to interrupt.

Hopefully played by Mark Alaimo. He drove Ira Behr mad with his slow speeches.

What's the word, are there any "TNG people" involved is this project, other than Stewart?

Or is everybody from TNG era now working on The Orville? :)
