What We Do In The Shadows tv show

Picked it up from the library on Tuesday. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Update: Enjoyed the movie, but was briefly disoriented when I tuned into this week's new ep. "Werewolves again? Didn't they just do that? Oh, wait, that was the movie . . . . "

 

Okay, does it count as a double post if nobody else has posted in a week? Hope this doesn't mean nobody else is watching this show.

Anyway, enjoyed this week's new episode. Nice to see them venturing beyond Staten Island, and I gotta say I love the old-school bat transformations!

 

Have saved the latest epi on dvr- was avoiding this thread for spoilers.

 

I liked the ending with Nandor helping Guillermo to fly, and then dropping him.

No one seems to like Colin. Why does he even live with them?

Last week’s episode was really funny with him finding a girlfriend, who turned out to be an emotional vampire. I thought their showdown in the office was funny!

 

I on awhim started watching this as it was on last night. I'm going into this show blind, I know very little of the premise.

I found myself laughing the hardest I have in a long time. The Guillermo/master stuff was funny as hell (no pun intended) but the other vampire with his lady friend and "not cursed"hat had me in tears.

I will definitely be following this show from now on.

 

I liked the showdown with the werewolves (hisss) and how Nandor beat them. Clever way to defeat a stronger and bigger opponent. The cursed hat was hilarious. So, do they get Manhattan by default since most if not all of the Manhattan vamps were destroyed by the hat curse? An alliance doesn't seem possible now.

 

I really need to try to remember to check this out this weekend.

 

Yes, this show has been absolutely fantastic so far. Any worries that it would pale in comparison to the movie can be permanently put aside. The characters are great, the humor hits hard, and the style is perfect.

Agreed that the emotional vampire was brilliant. Bring Evie back for another episode or two!

When Laszlo was being dragged around the corner by the taxi, due to the cursed hat, you could see the hat chasing after him.

I love how they met all the cool and modern vampires in this one. And then upon closer inspection, many of them were stuck in time too, just different eras than our main trio.

Also, the cat.

 

Colin is allowed to stay because he's the only one with any form of employment, I'd guess. I've put up with roommates for far less.

 

This week’s episode was the best yet!

Poor Laszlo getting beat up and taken to animal control and Nandor trying to rescue him. And Nadia saving them both after trying to spend time with her reincarnated lover.

 

Laszlo getting "broomed" turned the vampire legend on its ear! And then Nandor rescued the wrong bat! This show always delivers something unexpected.

 

Another good one! Poor documentation crew lost a member to the ancient vampire, which has to be a hazard because--vampires. Hilarious to find out that The Baron is actually The Barren because he had no chance to have kids because a certain necessary appendage is not in existence. Since Guillermo inadvertently solved The Baron/Barren problem, what will happen with the lurking Familiar? She didn't seem to rat them out after overhearing their feeble plans for murdering The B/B, so maybe she will just fade away...or maybe something hilarious will ensue. Can't wait for the next episode.

Creepy older woman, with a Victorian spinster vibe, who was always lurking around in the background. We even glimpsed on her on a rooftop during the Baron's vomit-propelled flight, complete with a ominous musical chord to signify that this was something, well, ominous.

 

I think the Barren/Baron didn't actually want to take over the world. It was just an excuse to hang out in New York with the other vampires.

Which makes it doubly sad.

 

I non-ironically like the transformations. And the gag reminded me of the old politically incorrect "black chicken" from Love at First Bite (yes, I'm old...).

 

Sad? Him being so behind the times was dangerous for humans and other vamps. You could see people looking at him a lot and Nandor et al had to cover. Sooner or later people would be coming after vampires because he was on the brink of "outing" them. He would never "fit in" and it was funny that the 3 vamps think that THEY fit in. He had only 2 uses for humans: Slaves and food. Mostly food, it seemed. He ate humans left, right, and upside down.

 

I was prepared to be underwhelmed but am flattened a few times per episode with some lovely bits of florid, purple dialogue. Berry making a meal of his lines is a delight as always and Demetriou is a hoot as Nadja, she was really funny in the recentish Stath Lets Flats with her brother as well.

 

Not the best episode but damn, the guest cast!

Kristen Schaal, Tilda Swinton, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Reubens, Wesley Snipes, Dave Bautista, Danny Trejo. All played vampires before I believe except Bautista but he was "Drax"?
