This is beyond strange, unless she was NOT contracted for next season. I honestly don't get it. It's not like she's some sort of A list actor that needs to pursue other opportunities, and even if she were Jennifer Aniston at the height of Friends, the idea of leaving with 10 episodes to go is pretty awful on her part.

That said, upon reading fan reactions, I am surprised at how unpopular she is.

    Well.. a couple things.

First, will we find out by tomorrow that this might be an April Fool's joke?

And if not...that is kinda sad. I personally liked her character...but hate how they wrote her ..1st starting with her "secret origin" (I would like to see at least ONE virgin character on the CW), and then her romance with Ollie just seemed very forced.

I agree with Christopher than Emily/Felicity can work with just about anyone...but the ONLY romance that seemed "natural" to me was Sara Lance as Canary (who was the one who brought the Canary cry...from who knows where). Her chemistry with Amell seemed to work best, and having 2 broken people try to help each other would work for me...but I guess not the writers.

How long is this yet another break for?

Well, we haven't seen Ollie in the future yet. I wonder if he will actually survive COIE, and break up with Felicity, leaving the comic book coupling of Green Arrow and Black Canary alive.

I'm guessing she'll still show up next season, just not a season regular, and only a couple episodes, probably the cross-over and series finale.

I just got back from seeing Shazam! And I was thinking about the final season of Arrow. I wonder if Warner would allow Manu Bennett to come back to play Slade Wilson one more time. If this is the end of Arrow, I would love to see one the series best characters return and with Felicity not coming back they have the room.

i hope so. But with Esai Morales playing Deathstroke on Titans they may not let Arrow use the character.

It would be funny if they had him wear the full Superman costume...but only because it is at a cosplay event

But it's the final season. Does it really matter at this point? Some of Arrow's missed opportunities came with Warner's tampering, by the way, like the sudden end of the Suicide Squad in (I believe) season 3.

He made a joke at a panel saying he'll be in the next season of Arrow thinking this current one was the final season and there is no next one, unsurprisingly nobody on these comic book "news" sites bothered to check what he actually said...

Except apparently the use of the Suicide Squad on Arrow in the first place was a test balloon for doing a movie, or so KRAD said in his recent Suicide Squad movie rewatch on Tor-dot-com. The permissions to use the characters come from Warner Bros. just as much as the denials. The studio giveth and the studio taketh away.

This seems to have been girls' night in the Arrowverse. Both tonight's Legends and this one focused on the female cast members teaming up and bonding. And Sara Lance was on both teams. It might've been nice if the LoT episode had had some brief nod to Sara getting a call from Star City at the end. But hey, she has a timeship, so theoretically this could be the Sara from weeks in the past or future. And of course there's no requirement that two episodes shown on the same day had to take place on the same day.

Anyway, Sara's inclusion was valuable to the story, engaging with parts of her Arrow backstory that rarely come up on LoT anymore, and paralleling her experiences with Laurel-2's. And we got that great scene of her in a tank top using Oliver's salmon ladder and looking amazing. Wow, those biceps.

Apparently this new female version of Shadow Thief, Aviva Metula, was introduced in the comics in 2013, although the comics character has an alien suit that gives her shadowy superpowers like her classic namesake, while this one's just a, err, shadowy thief and mercenary.

I didn't like this episode at all. I was bored. Instead of checking boxes and going for their little girls night, maybe they should focus on remembering who the title character is and using him. This is the second episode in recent ones that almost had no Oliver in it.

About the only thing I liked about the last episode was Laurel's appearance in the future in the last scene.

Yeah. I was kinda bored too. It felt like there was a lot of pointless melodrama. We got Felicity being annoying about wanting her friend to be good and Black Siren saying "No I am not going to be good". I wanted to tell Felicity to just let it go already.

And yeah, I want more Green Arrow.

Maybe I don't understand why Breaks or hiatus's are necessary, but that episode last night didn't feel worth waiting 3 weeks for. We're at the end of the season, we've already had a few episodes where Amell has been sidelined, and now we come back from a 3 week break and Amell was kinda sidelined again. It was an ok episode, but I was expecting a whole lot more. I did love the ending with Laurel in the Black Canery costume though, and it was great to see Sara again. Still, it would be nice to actually see Arrow in a show called Arrow.

Generally because it takes more than a week to shoot each episode, so the production would fall behind if there weren't occasional breaks. Also because there are times of year when people are less likely to watch TV, like the holidays. Partly it's a holdover from the early days of TV when a season would run continuously from fall to spring and only take the summer off, a schedule which was kept even when the number of episodes per season declined. There are also "sweeps months" when the ratings services take their rating surveys, so it became customary to concentrate new episodes and special events around sweeps periods, which required spacing out the season into several blocks. I'm not sure if sweeps are still a major factor today, though.

That was long overdue, they should have done "Birds of something like that" episode ages ago really... ;)

I quite liked the episode, it was nice to see Sara, and the White Canary costume and especially the Salmon Ladder on the show again. It felt a bit like a farewell episode for Laurel-2, but google tells me she'll be back this season, and also for the next one, so that's nice.

I suspect that White-Haired Black Canary Laurel-2 will be sticking around in the 2040 flashforwards for a while, so that she'll still be a regular even though she's not around in the present.
