Anxiety can have an effect on professional competence and common or not it isn't the best platform to be making critical decisions from. Tilly is cringe worthy. As somebody who says they have depression, I'm surprised at this attitude toward mental health and is effect on professional competence. Anxiety is very common, and many people in critical decision making positions in real life have it. You learn to manage it.

Also, much as I like Tilly, there's no fucking way she'd be allowed to spout some of the shite she spouts in crucial situations on the Bridge in any serious quasi military service.
Says you, comrade.

The dialogue and language that offends me more than anything, is the incomprehensible technobabble, to waffle our way out of a dire situation
Each incarnation of Trek is guilty of this, TNG and Voyager the worst, but Discovery is getting there.

What are you? Wound up toy soldiers? Don’t you know when your dying? Watch and regulations…what does it all mean?Nope, no Starfleet officer would ever freak out...
except when they do.

Well then, stand by to receive the rest of my multitude of apropos melody's for all BBS occasions.I believe I stole it straight from your playbook!
Give us a Tilly & Georgiou episode. Heck partner them in the Section 31 series and get some Farscape writers. Watch hilarity ensue.I have been a little disappointed Tilly has been regulated to only spouting Tillyisms of late.
The Orville is close to perfection, if someone needs a good picture of the modern military.Dialogue and relationships on The Orville are even more informal, therefore better.
The Orville is close to perfection, if someone needs a good picture of the modern military.
But I will allow myself to stop here. Some people just get too nervous and insufferable if someone brings The Orville to the Discovery discussion...
The Orville is about as realistic to the military
He was caught by the security chief, immediately reported to the superior commander and asked to leave.Bortus was smoking on the bridge and wasn't he allowed to continue?
Also there was that elephant looking dude who kept eating his lunch at his station
We are meant to accept that the officers of Starfleet are trained astronauts. Also potentially trained military personnel depending on your interpretation of Starfleet.
You obviously aren't talking about the Discovery crew. They don't look like trained astronauts or military personnel. More like a wild bunch of pressed civilians, nepotistic kids, shady mercenaries, psychopathic murderers, enemy spies, Nazi cannibals, resurrected zombies, foreign renegades, war criminals, convicted felons, broken victims of Dr. Mengele, pardoned mutineers, traitors, impostors and mentally challenged people.
Oh wait
That's exactly what they are.
