Question: Why does everyone on DSC talk like a cultist?

That kind of thing.

They deliver a report to a senior officer "Captain, sensors have detected the presence of a beam of pure hope on the surface". They break up with their partner "I feel we need to move apart, because our predestined paths have become like binary stars lost in themselves". They get up in the morning and order a coffee from the replicator "computer, give me a painting of my fate, in the form of a caffeinated ocean of beige".

No one talks like that or has said anything remotely like that on the show, and it feels needlessly provocative. There's not even really a discussion topic here to grow on. Closed.
