I took some better pics of my 1/1000 Enterprise this past weekend in my garage against a black velvet backdrop and wanted to share them. Hope you guys like them...

Holy Mudd! Those are 1/1000!?!? I've seen the 1/350 that didn't look as good. I'm not sure what's more amazing, your model building or photography.

That is THE BEST Enterprise model I have ever seen aside from the original.

nacelles are nice and level. the original connie is still the best of the hero ships.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. The Connie remains my favorite Trek ship, possibly because she was my first but also because her proportions are so well balanced. She really follows the Golden Ratio.

Yes. The 1/1000 scale D-7 kit needed some work; the main problem being the neck being slightly askew.
Nevertheless, it makes a decent model with some work. Here's mine...

That's a good build but...

The real issue(s) with that kit is that it is NOT 1/1000 scale. It's like 4 or 5 different off-scales combined. Top of the manta hull comes out too flat, the wings are too wide, the command pod platform and sensor tower are too tall etc...

Tom Sasser (the guy in charge of both projects) initially thought he got it right - and I'm sure his drawings were correct but - the mold makers in China mucked it up badly. He didn't find out until AFTER the kit was released, and that was way too late to fix the issues.

RIP Mr. Sasser.

It infuriates me that there aren't even accurate drawings of the D-7. (That's hopeful bait for someone to say "Of course there are, here you go!")

Yes - even the McMasters drawings are off in spots.

Whats really nuts - the old AMT kit (as nasty as it can be) is basically dead on since it was panto-graphed right from one of the miniatures.

Some of the little details are off, since neither of the miniatures were identical (yep - there were two built - only one filmed).

All these Connies on the Trek Art forum, so awesome to see!
Fantastic job you've done on this Trekriffic, especially the paint work.
