A thought occured to me as I glanced over a couple posts in the movie section about a possible final TNG movie with Q.

Should Q appear in the new Picard series?

Thoughts either way are welcome, because I am genuinely curious to see if that idea appeals to people.

Yes. Provisionally. ;)

I was thinking a Q appearance would help to bookend TNG with nuPicard, but then I remembered they did that in All Good Things... If the story is good I'd be all over it, and also if it was just a one-off.

I'd actually love to see this, especially when played again by John de Lancie, so I voted "yes".

Only problem would be that Q basically can't get older physically and well, John de Lancie doesn't really look nowadays as he did in TNG of course.

As long as the Q(John de Lancie) character does not overshadow Picard too much, a limited appearance.

One thing to remember is Q ultimately doesn't really care about appearance, so that can be hand waived by his appearance being a choice.

It could even be a gag where Picard mentions that, and Q from TNG days can be CGIed in for a moment.

I remember Q choosing to appear older to Picard in the future timeline in All Good Things, so obviously he could just do the same thing again, without the need for makeup. ;)

I fee like AGT wrapped up the Q/Picard story really well so I am not sure we need Q to come back again. Of course, if the show could come up with a really good reason for Q to show up, that would be ok.

I don't think that's an issue. His appearance can be whatever he wants it to be, and there's already a precedent for Q taking the form of an ancient man with an ear trumpet to mock Picard in 'All Good Things'.

From the same episode;

"Q, what is it that you're trying to tell me?"
"You'll find out. In any case, I'll be watching, and if you're very lucky, I'll drop by to say hello from time to time. See you out there."

The writers could build something from that if they so wish.

Single episode guest appearance.

Much less likely, multi-episode guest appearance, but not deLancie. Q in another form.

Perhaps a voice in Picard's head, someone only he can see. It's debatable as to whether it's really Q, or Irumodic Syndrome, or his imagination for introspective scenes.

I would be ok with a quick passing shot like Stan Lee in the Marvel realm.

If it’s anything more than that, he’d better be bringing back the mariachi band, too.

100 percent he should appear. And he can make some wise crack about his age, and then say he's appearing older just to make his old friend feel better.

Q can take on any form, so why not an older DeLancie?

And why would Q ever leave Picard alone?
