DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

The other good part is the whole rest of the movie.

I'm glad many like the film. I do not.

So there are pictures floating around supposedly of the Joker/Harley "breakup scene" in Birds of Prey. It looks like they've dressed someone up as Jared Leto's Joker but keep him obscured behind a window so you can't really tell it's not him.

What is Harley's current comic persona like? Has she moved beyond The Joker or is she still hung up on him? Is she hero, villain, anti-hero? The last comic I read ages and ages ago she let some little girl go blind over cash which was unsettling. With her character's push in movie and TV media I was curious how it compares to what they're doing in the comics.

I think her portrayal in Suicide Squad and some of the other comics is a bit different, but I her solo comic seems to be pretty goofy and crazy.

I have the impression she's sort of in a similar vein to Deadpool, though I'm not sure if she breaks the fourth wall as openly as he does. But I gather the humor in her book is often quite meta.

I was actually going to make the Deadpool comparison too, but I'm not really familiar enough with the solo version of her, or Deadpool to know for sure how accurate it was.

I kind of figured that would happen. DC is moving away from grimdark movies, so Miller wanting to make one just didn't seem to fit with the future of DC movies. Its not a big loss, really. He wasn't terrible in JL, but he wasn't great or anything, so its an easy recast. Really, it seems to be hiring a writer and director for a Flash movie that has been giving DC trouble over the last few years.

I liked Miller in the movie, but if Affleck is replaceable then anybody is. I am a little concerned what the new plan for this movie is going to be though. I really don't want a Flashpoint movie (which seems to be what Miller wanted?) but I don't want the Super-Friends with modern special effects or even a version of the same Flash we already get on television either.

Ezra Miller was one of the few bright spots of JL, but I won't be sorry to try another take on the whole team, except hopefully keeping Gadot and Momoa.

Or just forget about the team for the time being and focus on what's working. I don't need Supes and Bats leading the charge against evil anyhow.

I thought Miller was fine but fine in the same way that Ed Norton or Terrance Howard were fine. I don’t doubt that there are numerous actors out there who’d do just as good a job.

As has been said, it might be a difficult task to make a light hearted Flash film without just making it feel like a big screen version of what’s on TV every week.

I think it would great if Grant Gustin was cast in the movie.

There’s a million ways to do the next season of flash with grant being away

- Barry has gone missing
- kid flash comes back
- impulse

Grant can say the movie flash is an alternate version of his Barry allen

I mean, if we're going to get really puritanical with the whole Batman-doesn't-kill thing, I always felt that those fans were too lenient on Batman Begins with its technicalities of "It's a miracle no one was killed" and "I won't kill you but that doesn't mean I have to save you."

Batman Begins, understandably, got a lot of goodwill for finally telling Batman's origin story and, heck, finally focusing much more and being much more about Batman than the (celebrity) villains. But yeah, even that version of the character, the version finally done right (or finally done right aside from the earlier animation), was not flawless or uncompromising in applying his code.

Adding on, the Nolan Bruce Wayne outright planned to and tried to kill Joe Chill (he failed because he was killed by someone else), albeit years before he became Batman. He apparently developed the principle mostly because he came to agree with Rachel that his father wouldn't want to be avenged that way, would be ashamed that he tried to do it. And yeah, you would expect the not-saving Ra's and claiming he doesn't have to to have been more controversial.

The fuller quote from Snyder was complaining that some fans wanted their heroes to be pretty totally flawless, think they wouldn't/shouldn't even lie to the country. Some do insist on that although there's a lot of ground between lying or occasional selfishness/flaws and being willing to kill.

I think it's more they want to get people to forget Justice league and thier shared DCEU. So yes, part of the current plan.
