Discovery VFX Panel Recap

Where at Pixomondo are the Discovery effects being done Germany, USA, Canada, everywhere?
One does quite often get the idea that there is a disconnect with the team that does vfx, so that makes me wonder if they are working through several time zones.

Pixomondo has three Canadian studio-offices: Vancouver, Toronto and Montréal. Add in the Los Angeles office, which will be useful for the Picard Project as well...

So, wait. Was the monster that tried to kill young Michael a le-matya? Interesting if so. Quite a different look for it!

Previs for DSC is done at Pixo LA, everything else (assets, anim, comps, lighting, etc) is all run out of Pixo Toronto.

But it's still Prime, right?
Why not? When did selectively re-imagining (or even outright ignoring, for that matter) anything from TAS (or any other show, for that matter) ever pose an obstacle to this before? It's been happening for decades, so it's rather late to be crying foul now.

And an episode of ENT 15 years ago.
There was no le-matya in ENT, only a sehlat. And just because that looked more or less the same as in TAS doesn't mean the le-matya has to as well. It is not, nor has it ever been, an all-or-nothing proposition. As Kirk says in STIII: "Don't quote rules to me..."

Besides, for all we know, "le-matya" is a general Vulcan term for "predatory Forge beast that can't be domesticated" or "abominable mutant left over from our ancient nuclear wars" or simply "creature with poisonous claws." Or it's a species that exhibits wild sexual dimorphism.

And ultimately, the animal that attacked Burnham wasn't even called a le-matya onscreen anyway, so...
