Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Well, no, there isn't much of a difference as far as non-canonicity is concerned. It's just that a comic book is pretty much the lowest common denominator as far as Eaglemoss finding new ships to create, IMHO (and this comes from a former comic book collector...)
Maybe we’ll get some Redeemer ships one day?

If you're going to be snobby, I'm not sure what sets a Michael Martin novel apart from an IDW comic.

(I like the Titan design; it has a sort of workhorse aesthetic I admire. The Aventine is only okay, and I won't be getting this.)

Gotta say I’m quietly saving up for my next EM purchase - The previously released phase II 1701 Enterprise (a fantastic rendition for the starship, IMO).

:)

Er, I wasn’t being snobby. Just stating an opinion. If you don’t agree with my opinion, that’s your choice.

I wasn’t being snobby.

You did infact come across as snobby.

Just stating an opinion.

Clearly. The way you stated said opinion gave a whiff of turning your nose up at this latest announcement because of the source material used.

As for the Titan design, I like it, it kept to the design esthetic of the time period and wasn't radically different for being differents sake.

So sorry that I hurt your fragile sensibilities. I’ll be sure to give you a wide berth the next time you state your opinion about something, so as not to horrendously offend you.

Gosh, I sure hope that didn’t come across as snobby too.

Is Eaglemoss' 'Build The USS Enterprise D' relevant to this thread? I think it needs to be talked about.

Build The USS Enterprise D

I looked at that but can't justify another subscription after the main STSS one and the Discovery line.

I think the way they've worded the pricing on the US website is a little deceptive as well. $10.95 plus $1.95 for shipping per issue looks like a good deal until you carefully read it to find they're shipping four issues a month. So that's another $51.60 per month.

Interesting response, I did not state whether turning your nose up and coming across as snobbish was good or bad, just that you were giving that impression.

Now if I were to state how you've now come across, I would get into trouble for flaming you, and it is really not worth an infraction.

You’re right, it’s not, so let’s just drop it, shall we?

Well, okay, since this is settled … here are some photos I took of the V'ger model I got yesterday. While it's lighter in weight than I would have thought, it's a beautiful model and photographs pretty amazingly, I think. (Hiding them behind spoiler code so as to not disturb the flow of the thread.)

I love that they modeled it with an open maw, and from a distance it looks cool, but I'm kind disappointed at how shallow it is. Making it a little deeper would have gone ways of selling the idea …

I also took a couple of photos of the Shran, which, while much too small for the steep price, is a really nice model:

Recently I also got into ordering the original Battlestar Galactica and I must say I'm pretty impressed with it. It's just an all-around great model. Not easy to take pictures of, but in real life it looks amazing:

Now I'm kind of bummed I didn't get the modern Galactica a couple of months back. Looking out for a decently priced one on ebay at the moment. In the meantime I got the Pegasus. It's also pretty nice, but not as good as the original Galactica. What's cool is that the landing bays are actually open all the way through. Nice touch!

Yeah, I think I'm going to skip that one. I'm already doing their 1/8 scale BTTF DeLorean (an amazingly detailed and accurate model, BTW, unlike their E-D) and saving up my pennies for Hachette's 1/350 scale 2202 Yamato. Another one of these subscription builders is going to earn me a year on the couch from my wife (at best).
