I feel the characters are getting increasingly relatable, and the show has gained a more tender spirit of humanity. This week's episode is not one of the forum's most favourites, but I still found it much stronger at it's weakest that some earlier material. But the change seems to have started around mid-season.

It is very hard to understand what the show's writing siutation is, but it seemed that the changeover from the firing of Berg and Harberts happened about episode 6 or 7, around when the opening credits changed slightly. Forgive me if I am getting it wrong, or not giving anyone enough credit.

Agreed. The pacing has improved considerably.

She's not the showrunner yet, as I understand it. She was brought in as a new producer/writing staff member for the back half of season 2 under Alex Kurtzman's showrunnership, and she'll take over as runner in season 3.

I heard that Berg & Harberts's departure happened after about episode 4, but since there are always multiple episodes in various overlapping stages at once, the influence of departed showrunners can continue to be felt for a fair number of episodes after they leave.

Jumping the gun a bit early here .... Michelle Paradise in co-show runner for Season 3.

Changes are probably more due to Alex Kurtzman's more hands-on direct involvement...

    Edit: ninja'd by Christopher...

I noticed a change in the vibe at the beginning of the season, with more priority on the crew of Discovery functioning together as a team instead of being compartmentalized. I'm starting to notice it moreso after the fifth episode but I think it's continuing along the lines of what was already going on.

As has already been pointed out, she's not the Showrunner yet, so this thread is pointless and should be closed.

Yes, she is not the showrunner yet, but I am sure she had some influence hence the promotion.

When Harberts & Berg were fired, Kurtzman took over as showrunner and then hired James Duff to help him out. Duff is now working on Picard.

No it's not pointless. Regardless of who is in charge the show has made massive improvements. This thread can be a place to discuss those changes. Maybe the thread title needs to be changed, but the thread itself is generating discussion. It should not be locked

^ The show is not currently in production, so it cannot be actively improving... so, yes, this thread is pointless.

Take it from someone who's a former moderator, I hated back-seat modding. If the thread generates discussion that's not resulting in people getting warned, it's fine. But if the mods feel it should be closed, then that's their call to make. Not yours or ours.

Season two is better than season one, but much of it was prior to Paradise rising in the ranks. It'll be interesting to see what she brings to the table.

The thread was made under a false assumption. But if people are actively posting to it, then there's no need for it to be locked. It will probably just die off on its own.

I’d like to think the improvements aren’t just the work of one person but the result of the show finding its feet and the writers learning from past mistakes. May the positive trends long continue.

considering Michelle paradise has begun contributing this season and the season isn't over this thread is valid. Sorry to burst your ego bubble. Here's an outrageous idea for you, how about you stop posting in a thread that you clearly see no value in and leave it to those who do.

If you've got a problem with something, hit notify on it. Don't come here berating the OP. Especially over such a minor complaint. So what, he made a mistake? The discussion still has merit with the corrected information.

The title could be corrected to "since Berg and Harberts were ousted," because that is essentially what the OP means.
