2x10 'The Red Angel' Preview

- More than 130 people there at the shuttlebay, it seems, at a glance. Better that way; we have no reason to get hung up with that ages-old datapoint.
- Terralysium shouldn't be reachable by the S31 ship.
- But revisits of former Red Locations would seem to be in order. Is the industrial location with the lateral-vector dishes the wreck of the Hiawatha?
- The set with tall windows to the right is new. And interesting. A Discovery feature? Or an oddly well-lit S31 ship one?
- Four people can carry Airiam's corpse plus the machinery needed to propel the coffin? I don't think we saw the torpedo casings manhandled in any previous bit of Trek...

I also have a feeling with everything that is going on...........Burnham's "launch" might be the climax of the episode and we won't see where she went till Perpetual Infinity S02E11. Also that name is screaming HINT but I can not quite work it out. Two words that basically BOTH mean vast and never ending........

I expect that there's an "on duty" contingent missing from the ceremonies too. And given the tech in use on 1031, those people can watch via video link from their work stations.

That whole asteroid went into a pulsar, no?
I believe it did.

They never specified which pulsar, whether real or Trek-Verse-Prime-specific, though they referenced Starbase 36 as the intended destination of the Hiawatha NCC-815.

In any case, the concrete pillars of that location are a bit too concretely concrete to convincingly portray a downed starship... What text is stenciled on the one we see up close?

About 150-160 folks in the shuttlebay. And the pallbearers do seem to enjoy the help of some sort of a carriage after all.

The massive inside of the Hiawatha didn't exactly look that different, but there are windows this time. The signage looks like "0## ROOM"

As much attention as Burnham is receiving, she's still only in her regular uniform when she sits down in the chair in the preview (instead of the RA suit we've seen). I have a question, though:
How do we know there aren't multiple people sent as Red Angels? Why assume it's only 1 person?

With this season having such an emphasis on teamwork (as has been discussed in interviews), it would be the "teamwork" kind of thing to do to share the burden. What if multiple guesses are correct? Burnham, Georgiou, and possibly others.

If they just have 1 shot at it, they could send multiple people to multiple points in time. It would be perceived as only 1 person and several separate time incursions from a linear point of view, but really a shared burden among the crew making 1 last ditch effort all at once.

I'd like to add the "multiple RAs" theory to the mix. If it's been mentioned already, I'd like to agree with those folks.

Gravity fields were in flux; she may have soft-landed. On one of those mines.

So I am going to assume that they find out what Project Daedalus is: a time transporter. They are still fugitives and so will have to race against time to get someone in the chair to 'beam' into the future and try to gather info or help set up a resistance from that end. If we go by the preview, it looks like Michael is the only one sent ahead. It also lends credence to the idea that the presumably rogue AI in the future is focused on her specifically. So, in my opinion, this is shaping up to be a closed temporal causality loop. Michael has knowledge of what's already happened in the past (where the signals are going to be, who needs saving such as the New Eden people and herself etc.) and presumably she will get the suit in the future, the means by which those events can be made to happen.

However, I am going to hold out for some nice twists. I really hope "Calypso" and Zora factor into this. If Airiam's memories were uploaded to Discovery, perhaps they help to make the ship's computer evolve eventually. Perhaps Michael will find the ship and learn the story of how it's waiting due to orders and is able to communicate that back to the present crew. So they will know they have to take the ship to the correct spot and abandon it.

I just love the idea of the Discovery from the future being the lynch pin to undo whatever damage the CONTROL AI has done and somehow preventing the Federation (as we know it) from being annihilated.

It would also give some extra poignancy and meaning to Airiam's sacrifice.
