Not to mention the alien creatures used for power in "Equinox" (VGR).

If it is Section-31 Classified ....

Then according to some folks around here, apparently everybody and their brother will become aware of it soon.

Seems like we might be seeing the final stretch of this thing.

I'd be kinda surprised if it doesn't get dismissed, but based on recent major rulings by other judges in prominent cases lately not completely.

Our court system can seem truly topsy-turvey at times.

@carlosp Graphic design is your passion, huh? :nyah:

(I can't believe I signed up after months of lurking just to make a meme joke. Also thank you for your write ups of the lawsuit, they are really informative and I feel like I'm learning something about copyright law regardless of the Star Trek connection.)

I appreciate the liberal use of this abbreviation, as it's always an easy guide to scroll past the post.

You know, it's really tedious to see people complain about STD being the abbreviation that some people want to use. The official name of the show is Star Trek: Discovery. I've settled on calling it DISCO, but a more obvious and straightforwardly constructed abbreviation than STD literally does not exist.

I call it Discovery, though I don't have an issue with STD. But I'm a hater, so what do I know?

It bothers me that I use DSC instead of DIS when I use VOY instead of VGR. I've always shortened the single word titles (BEY, NEM, GEN, INS) and used letters for multiple word titles (ID, TWOK, ETC) no matter what the 'official' abbreviation is (I believe VOY was always abbreviated to VGR in publications). And then DSC came around and I did the whole 'distracted boyfriend' meme and stuck to it.

VGR still looks freaking weird to me though.

Eh, it's more what I see as context. DIS seems more natural, and DSC is more or less the official. STD is used, not exclusively, but widely by critics making a puerile joke about STDs, and is usually an indicator of a low-energy dismissal of the show.

It amuses me that the CBS lawyers pointed out that the Discovery tardigrade is brown not blue. I remember thinking this was glaringly obvious a while ago when people were claiming they both looked the same.

Sometimes it is, no question. But maybe they are just doing it for fun, like why I say DISCO. Or, because people don't like to be told what to do, maybe it's one of those small rebellions over something that really doesn't matter that can be a healthy outlet, you know?

I mean, I often stop reading a post when I've seen enough, but generally speaking I need more than the mere presence of one three-letter term to know. But, hey, you do you. :techman:

Yeah, without any credible evidence that shows that members of the DSC production staff saw the video of his game or had access to that website in an appropriate time period, it appears Abdin's case is on life support. Abdin's arguments alleging visual similarities between the two tartigrades (and humans) seems to be all he has.

From what has been reported so far, it would be shocking to see the Judge not dismiss this case. But, you never know what the judge may be seeing that we haven't seen.

Yep, I read it as “V’ger”, so also go with VOY.
