THE ORVILLE S2, E10: "BLOOD OF PATRIOTS"

Great episode. It reminded me of the TNG episode "The Wounded". That episode also featured an officer who was scarred by war and bent on payback and preventing peace. And that officer also had a previous friendship with a member of the Enterprise. Similar theme.
Don't remember it.

Awesome.
I was just looking around on the Orville Wiki, and it turns out Dan is played by the same guy who voices Cleveland Brown on Family Guy.
It also says that Yaphit's species is called Gelatin (wow that's original), and they reproduce through mitosis.
The mitosis thing was mentioned in a episode. That his mum is now him and his brother.

Lieutenant Dorsett (Michele Boyd), Gordon's love interest from ep.4 will return. Now just look at her closely. Cute, blonde, funny. Last but not least - green uniform. Now compare to this:

Another Krill spy. Krill spies are everywhere!
I thought she was Nicole DeBoer first time I saw her.

But Lamarr is far more charismatic imho. The few times they have featured him have been pretty good. He's also supposed to be a hidden genius or something. They need to drum up one of those 'saves the ship' moments

LaMarr comes across as charismatic, but J. Lee isn't a real actor - at least not to the same extent as the others on a show. He started out as some sort of administrative assistant for MacFarlane and Seth began casting him because they were friends.

Honestly, it comes across as if Lee is playing LaMarr as himself.

I enjoyed this one, and liked the themes running underneath it. Questions of trust, of what it takes to ensure peace, who has to pay for it, and whether or not that peace will be worth the lives it cost. Interesting, thought provoking questions in a time where countries like the United States attempts to broker peace with people who are ideologically opposite of its own, and whether or not there can ever be a genuine peace.

This episode gets a B+ from me. Entertaining, thought provoking, and it has some good character moments. Honestly, between The Orville, and what DSC dropped this week, this is a great time to be into sci-fi.

It was a good episode, but it did remind me a lot about DS9's Past Prologue. It was a nice vehicle for Gordon though, who needed an episode this season. I'll probably give it a B.

Orville also has another week off next week. At this point maybe Discovery and Orville will end at the same time.

The aliens with explosive blood should have been introduced in some earlier episode. as it was it came out of left field.

I liked that Gordon got to be more serious instead of being just the guy cracking funny and/or lame jokes. Also we got to see that he's pretty good in a fight. The Krill ambassador dude was Silik from Enterprise. I was kind of bored. It may have been me because I had a long day but it didn't do much for me.

I have to say - they finally did an episode I REALLY liked here - even more than the Kaylon out to destroy organics two-parter.

About the only nit I have to pick (and it pissses me off when I see it in TOS, TNG, Stargate SG-1...etc.) is: In the Union Shuttle Gordan HAS a 'phaser' that's been shown to have a stun setting (he used it on Tayla in the mock escape and she even comments he used a high stun setting) trained on his Buddy; but NEVER JUST TUNS HIM (which of course gives him time to arm the Bomb.) <--- Did they really need to use THAT trope here?

A 10 from me here.

Yep, The Wounded plus The Undiscovered Country plus Michael Eddington story.

I expected from Gordon to say something like this: "Dude, I went into the battle with Krill side by side. They basically saved our asses and Earth itself from extermination".

Yaphit got medal. What about Ty?

Isaac already on the bridge like nothing happened. Too soon. I expected him 'confined to quarters' for couple of episodes.

Medals are awarded to people in the service. Ty isn't in the service.

He'd only qualify for any citizen-level medals (akin to The Presidential Medal of Freedom) which could only be issued by a head of state, not someone in military service.

I don't remember those.

I do remember that Voyager and Enterprise both also used characters who made themselves explode, thus causing massive damage to ships.

That in itself is preposterous.

Hollywood explosives are like magic spells, or warp drive - they can do whatever the plot calls for.

It comes across as every actor playing a human is playing themselves lol. Nevertheless, if Lamarr isn't a featured character, it kind of diminishes the variety of people to tell stories about. You got Ed & Kelly, Claire & Issac (+ the kids) Bortus & Klyden, Gordon & Talla. That ain't a whole lot.
