It gets a thumbs up from me. A little on the simple side, but still an enjoyable view
I gotta say, I'm a little worried that Lamarr is getting passed over this season for his own episode

Don't remember it.Great episode. It reminded me of the TNG episode "The Wounded". That episode also featured an officer who was scarred by war and bent on payback and preventing peace. And that officer also had a previous friendship with a member of the Enterprise. Similar theme.
The mitosis thing was mentioned in a episode. That his mum is now him and his brother.Awesome.
I was just looking around on the Orville Wiki, and it turns out Dan is played by the same guy who voices Cleveland Brown on Family Guy.
It also says that Yaphit's species is called Gelatin (wow that's original), and they reproduce through mitosis.
But Lamarr is far more charismatic imho. The few times they have featured him have been pretty good. He's also supposed to be a hidden genius or something. They need to drum up one of those 'saves the ship' momentsTravis Mayweather syndrome.
I thought she was Nicole DeBoer first time I saw her.![]()
Lieutenant Dorsett (Michele Boyd), Gordon's love interest from ep.4 will return. Now just look at her closely. Cute, blonde, funny. Last but not least - green uniform. Now compare to this:

Another Krill spy. Krill spies are everywhere!

Yep, The Wounded plus The Undiscovered Country plus Michael Eddington story.
I expected from Gordon to say something like this: "Dude, I went into the battle with Krill side by side. They basically saved our asses and Earth itself from extermination".
Yaphit got medal. What about Ty?
Isaac already on the bridge like nothing happened. Too soon. I expected him 'confined to quarters' for couple of episodes.

It comes across as every actor playing a human is playing themselves lol. Nevertheless, if Lamarr isn't a featured character, it kind of diminishes the variety of people to tell stories about. You got Ed & Kelly, Claire & Issac (+ the kids) Bortus & Klyden, Gordon & Talla. That ain't a whole lot.LaMarr comes across as charismatic, but J. Lee isn't a real actor - at least not to the same extent as the others on a show. He started out as some sort of administrative assistant for MacFarlane and Seth began casting him because they were friends.
Honestly, it comes across as if Lee is playing LaMarr as himself.
In the real world. But we talking about space opera universe!Medals are awarded to people in the service.
Discovery too. Vulcan Logic suicide bomber.I do remember that Voyager and Enterprise both also used characters who made themselves explode
