This movie has mocked up a lot of controversies even before release from brie larson's not so smart comments about ''white males'' and the controversy of rotten tomatoes removing their audience score to combat ''trolls''.
I have been reading some of the reviews and they are not great, not great at all and I am failing to understand how and they they are counting as fresh on RT.
Rumours and conspiracy theories have been around for years that critics have a bias to MCU movies and captain marvel reviews makes it sound even more true. there is just something not right about this movie's reviews and the media conversation. I will list many examples of how critics are calling this movie generic,formula-ish, mediocre but somehow they are all counting as fresh on RT. I genuinely think if this was a DC movie or an X-Men movie they will be as lucky.here are some examples of the supposedly good reviews on captain marvel on RT
''Finally, Women Have Their Own Mediocre Marvel Movie. Captain Marvel is just as formulaic as countless other superhero films. That’s a triumph''.
There is a sense here though that the MCU formula is now being relied upon to paper over some of the cracks in the storytelling.
Praise be to Goose the Cat; I look forward to his inevitable solo film.
She's a welcome addition to the aforementioned Marvel family tree; let's just hope she's given a sturdier branch next time.
Brie Larson was already my hero before Captain Marvel so this only reconfirms the obvious.
Captain Marvel' flies high and fast, but struggles with narrative turbulence.
By now, MCU fans know the drill: stick around for the end credits, and you will not be disappointed.
It's not going out on a limb to say Goose the cat is reason enough to see the movie multiple times. But there are other joys in Captain Marvel. An abundance of them.
Captain Marvel' is Imperfect, Sardonic, and Every Bit the Success it Needed to Be
It is such a shame this film isn't a little better.
Despite its flaws, the film is a decent superhero flick, and has the potential to take off to new heights with more character development.
I'm here for Higher, Further, Faster but maybe not so fast. [Captain Marvel] seems to service the upcoming Avengers: Endgame more than it does the character herself.
It's fun! A lot of fun...sometimes too much fun. But doesn't stick the "origin story in the thick of it" film that Deadpool did. I wish the film had just picked a tone and stuck with it.
The girl power (and grrl power) ring out loud and clear, if a bit hollow.
Without qualification, Captain Marvel is a brilliant, blazing success and the perfect lead-in to the Avenger's Endgame.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe's first woman-driven movie has taken much too long to arrive. That it is here at all is cause for celebration. A pity then that it sticks to the tried and tested.
Brie Larson as Captain Marvel makes comic book movie history but this superhero adventures feels awfully familiar in every other way.
Even when mindless digital mayhem threatens to swamp the movie, there's always a complex narrative point.
This good reviews are all superficial at best, the reviews seem absent on story telling, screenplay, cinematography, editing, directing. there is little subtenancy in this reviews. its like none of this things matter. so what kind of criticism are we dealing with? clearly nothing that has to do with what we usually thinks makes a great film.
As I said the this supposedly good reviews are not actually good ,I cant see any other film that can get away with this but a MCU movie. The context of this reviews is weaker than Aquaman and more on par with justice league but the RT score fails to be reflecting this reality.
With everything that has happened over the years with Last Jedi,RT removing audience anticipation rating just to protect captain marvel even Black Panther declared as the best reviewed film of all time with how predictable the plot was and the bad CGI effects of the film. critics no longer have any credibility when it comes to MCU movies, it also make me wonder just how much power disney has and is it too much?
