Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Well, it's sure not the Abrams Enterprise. If you don't want to think of as the TOS Timeline, just go with a Third Timeline.
This. I've said before that if it helps you enjoy the product more to place it into an alternate universe, then more power to you. It's all a fictional construct anyway. However, the timeline of events don't match up for it to be the Kelvin universe.

I'd prefer a clip show

Another one?

Now I'm imagining Burnham down in the cave complex watching the events of 2254 on one of their jagged screens:

"Who's that guy? That's not Pike. Lasers? Time warp barrier? What's with all the paper? Why are you laughing, Spock? And where's your beard? I like the eyebrows. You guys sure messed up the look of the Enterprise."

The reason I use fanboys here is frankly because, this forum has a bizarre fanboyish attitude towards Discovery that I don't even find on boards like /r/Startrekdiscovery where you find far more reasonable discussion and criticism of the show being discussed.
There is a need for Discovery fans here to constantly shit over the rest of Star Trek and Roddenberry's vision of Star Trek, mock and deride people who think that vision is important to the series which happens constantly (and don't tell me it doesn't, I've seen countless posts of people posting "But Genes utopian vision!" with rolling eyes and laughter emojis), constantly strawman and ignore actual legitimate criticisms of the show and then just brush everything away with "It's not 1960 anymore it's 2019, stop living under a rock! why would you want sets made of cardboard" like those of us critical of the show have not seen serialised television before, rather than we've all watched serialised TV and Discovery being serialised and in 2019 doesn't excuse it for being a poorly written mess.

And just like I pointed out a few weeks ago, taking the moral high ground than instantly resorting to ad homenim attacks. Another thing that constantly happens here.

Been saying this here for literally a year dude. Still just get "ITS 2019 PEOPLE DON'T WANT CARDBOARD SETS" thrown in my face.

I think it's funny that you think this board is an echo chamber. I'm sure you would have zero issue if everyone was agreeing with your opinion. Honestly, if I didn't like Discovery I wouldn't watch it. It wouldn't matter to me that it is Star Trek. Discovery isn't perfect by any means, and I'm not saying that some of your criticisms are not valid, but i think the notion that it's doing all these horrible things that other Trek series have never done doesn't hold water.

Take 'Gene's vision' for example, Deep Space Nine was all about rebelling against that vision. It was dark, had good characters doing bad things, featured a war and generally depicted the Federation in a harsher light and with a more critical eye than any other series did. Yet it is held in high regard by much of the fan base. Showrunners of Star Trek have been critical of 'Gene's vision' since the Wrath of Khan. Even TNG tried it once or twice while Rick Berman wasn't looking.

There is a reason that Star Trek died in 2004 and didn't come back to television for another 12 years, you know.

TWOK was so against Gene's vision that he leaked plot details.

IDIC, anyone?
